     HW-MS03 is an electromagnetic doppler receiver/transmitter module. It is a high performance microwave motion sensor module. It serves to detect moving objects using the microwave doppler effect. It has a micro strip patch type antenna. It works better in indoor use. Its performance drops in outdoor use. It gives a digital output as 0 or 3.3V.

     The doppler method is basically time dependent, it is based on the wave frequency change at different times with the movement of the object when a radio wave comes from an object. If the object is standing still the frequency of the wave arriving at the sensor is constant. If the object moves in the direction it first moved the frequency increases, if it moves in the other direction the frequency decreases. Compared with other object detection methods it has some advantages:

Points to note:

• It should be used with a quality power supply.
• There should be no moving objects during the test.
• When the product  is powered there is a 10-30 sec initial startup time. During this it does not give a proper output.
• In indoor operation there is a process where the sensor learns its surroundings. After this process it will work properly. In outdoor use there should be no moving objects during the first test and operation. ( Cat, bird, pedestrian )
• This sensor cannot be used enclosed in metal boxes.
• Using it next to devices that emit high power electromagnetic radiation may cause the product to work incorrectly.
