The LSM6DS3 is an advanced IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) module that combines a high performance 3-axis digital accelerometer and a 3-axis digital gyroscope on a single chip and can process data coming from other sensors in the system.
This sensor, produced with Stm company's mems technology, is an excellent solution especially for motion detection, vibration measurement, balancing robots and drone projects. Thanks to the 8 kbyte internal FIFO buffer memory on the board, it can store data instead of sending it to the microcontroller (Arduino, ESP32 etc.) instantly; this allows your processor to stay in sleep mode, offering serious energy savings.
Thanks to the SCX and SDX pins on the board, you can use this sensor as a "Sensor Hub", and by connecting an external magnetometer (compass) directly to this board you can transfer the data to the main processor over a single line.
