This CMSIS-DAP / DAPLink based Usb emulator is an open source, high speed and driverless programming and debugging solution developed for STM32, nRF51, nRF52 and generally ARM Cortex-M core microcontrollers. Unlike the jlink / stlink clones that are widespread in the market, it does not experience firmware loss. It does not give license and piracy warnings. It uses completely open source hardware and software. Thanks to the CMSIS-DAP standard it is directly compatible with many development environments such as Keil MDK, IAR, OpenOCD, STM32CubeIDE, PlatformIO.
When it is plugged into the pc, 1 com port is created and the CMSIS-Dap hardware appears. A new disk is created on the pc as a Udisk. You can use this area with drag and drop.
Thanks to the bootloader on the DAPLink, when the device is plugged into usb it is recognized by the computer as a flash disk. In this way the firmware file (hex or bin) can be copied to the device directly by the drag and drop method and programming can be performed. No additional software, IDE or external programming tool is needed. This structure offers a practical bootloader architecture that can be taken as a reference and used in mass production processes, end user firmware updates and field updates.
