White 128x32 OLED LCD 0.91 inch I2C Display Module SSD1306 3.3V-5V
Mini Screen Digital Clock Thermometer Weather Battery Indicator Drone RC Sensor Measurement Wearable Counter Game
The white 128x32 OLED LCD is a small graphic display module with a 0.91 inch diagonal and white pixels. The display has no backlight, the white pixels produce their own light; text and icons on the black background are read with high contrast from a wide angle above 160 degrees. With its 30.0 x 11.5 x 1.2mm panel size and about 3gr weight it fits easily into handheld devices, battery powered projects and narrow enclosures.
The module carries the SSD1306 driver IC; the display is connected with only 4 pins, GND, VCC, SCL and SDA, and its default I2C address is 0x3C. The 4 pin male pin header comes assembled on the module, so the display plugs straight into a breadboard or onto wires. It uses about 0.08W with the full screen lit; this low consumption suits battery powered devices.
Thanks to its 3.3V-5V supply range it can be connected directly to both 3.3V and 5V logic boards. The 128 x 32 pixel resolution is ideal for showing two or four lines of text, time, temperature, battery level and sensor values.
Features:
- Product type: 0.91 inch monochrome OLED graphic display module
- Resolution: 128 x 32 pixels
- Driver IC: SSD1306
- Interface: I2C (2 lines: SCL clock line, SDA data line)
- Default I2C address: 0x3C
- Supply voltage: DC 3.3V-5V
- Backlight: not needed; OLED pixels produce their own light, high contrast
- Viewing angle: wide, above 160 degrees
- Power consumption: about 0.08W with the full screen lit
- Compatible libraries: Adafruit SSD1306 + Adafruit GFX, U8g2
- Compatible boards: Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi Pico, STM32
- Pinout: GND, VCC, SCL, SDA (4 pins; on some boards the print reads SCK instead of SCL)
- Active display area: 22.384 x 5.584mm
- Pixel pitch: 0.175 x 0.175mm, pixel size 0.159 x 0.159mm
- Operating temperature: -30°C to 70°C
- Storage temperature: -40°C to 80°C
- Display color: White pixels, black background; blue PCB
- Panel size: 30.0 x 11.5 x 1.2mm
- Module size: about 38 x 12 x 11.5mm (including pins)
- Weight: about 3gr
Usage information:
- Connect the GND pin to the board GND, the VCC pin to a 3.3V or 5V supply, the SCL pin to the board I2C clock line and the SDA pin to the I2C data line.
- The display answers at the 0x3C address. If nothing is shown, first check that the SCL and SDA wires are not swapped, then check the I2C address.
- In the software the display size must be set to 128 x 32, not 128 x 64; otherwise the image appears corrupted or only half drawn.
Application areas:
- Digital clock and stopwatch projects
- Thermometer, humidity and weather displays
- Battery level indicators
- Status display on drones, RC vehicles and remote controls
- Sensor value reading and measuring devices
- WiFi, IP and connection status display with ESP32 and ESP8266
- Wearable and handheld portable devices
- Menu displays for 3D printers, soldering stations and small devices
- Arduino education and STEM projects
- Counter, timer and game projects
Points to consider:
- The display glass is very thin. When inserting the module into a breadboard press on the pins, not on the glass; do not bend or squeeze the glass.
- If the same image stays fixed for a very long time, OLED pixels may keep a trace. In projects that run for a long time, turn the display off, lower the brightness or change the image periodically.
- The supply must be in the DC 3.3V-5V range; a voltage above this range damages the display.
- A second display with the same address (0x3C) cannot be connected to the same I2C bus; for two displays use a module with a different address or an I2C multiplexer.
