     The Mini560 5V is a synchronous rectification step down (buck) module, 30mm x 18mm in size and 5gr in weight, that lowers a DC voltage between 7V and 20V to a fixed 5V. The output voltage is set to 5V by a fixed resistor on the board; since no adjustment pot is used, the output voltage does not drift with vibration or over time. With a 500kHz switching frequency and a 4R7 (4.7µH) inductor it delivers high current in a small area.

     It is recommended not to use it above 3A in continuous use; above 3A it must be used with a heat sink. With a heat sink the output current is at most 5A. According to the product table, at 12V input the efficiency is 98% at 2A load and 95.6% at 5A load (table in the picture below). The input and output terminals are two-hole solder pads at both ends of the board; the EN pin is used to switch the module on and off.

Key features:

     Fixed 5V, non-adjustable output: The output voltage is set by a fixed resistor, there is no adjustment pot. With no setting to be turned by mistake, it is safe for powering circuits that run on 5V.

     Wide input range: 7V - 20V input; 5V is obtained from a 12V car battery, a 12V adapter, 3S (12.6V) and 4S (16.8V) lithium batteries.

     High efficiency, low heating: At 12V input, 5V / 2A output gives 98% efficiency with 35.8°C board temperature; 5V / 4A output gives 96.7% efficiency with 53.6°C board temperature (product table).

     Small and light board: With 30mm x 18mm x 5.4mm size and 5gr weight it fits inside drones, FPV and devices with tight enclosures.

     EN pin and indicator LED: The module can be switched on and off externally with the EN pin. The indicator LED does not work normally; to use it, the pads next to it must be shorted with solder.

Usage information:

• Solder the power source (7V - 20V) to IN+ and IN-, and the circuit that will run on 5V to OUT+ and OUT-. The arrow on the back of the board shows the direction from input to output.
• If more than 3A is drawn continuously, add a heat sink to the board; even with a heat sink do not exceed 5A.
• If you want to use the indicator LED, join the two pads next to the LED with solder.

Precautions:

•  Input voltage must not exceed 20V. It is not used in 24V systems and with 5S or higher lithium batteries. Voltage spikes in vehicle wiring can exceed 20V; in a vehicle add protection such as a fuse and a TVS diode at the input.
•  When the input drops below 7V the output cannot be held at 5V; the input must be at least 7V for 5V output.
•  It is recommended not to use it above 3A in continuous use. Above 3A it must be used with a heat sink.
•  Do not mix up the input and output terminals and do not reverse the positive and negative terminals; the module may be damaged.
•  The output is fixed 5V and cannot be adjusted. The indicator LED not lighting is not a fault; the LED does not work unless its pads are shorted.
