Type-C Usb Socket 6 Pin Smd
USB 3.1 Mobile Phone Electronic Device Usb Port Connector Charging Socket Female
This product is a 6 pin SMD USB Type-C female socket that is soldered horizontally onto a circuit board. Two of the 6 pins are VBUS (+5V), two are GND, and two are the CC1 and CC2 lines; there are no D+ / D- data pins. It is therefore made only as a power (charging) input: for circuits that take a 5V supply through a Type-C cable and do not need data transfer. The contacts are rated for 3A current and at most 30V.
The signal pins are lined up on the rear edge of the socket as SMD solder legs; the 4 through-hole (DIP) fixing legs at the four corners of the metal shell go through the board and are soldered. These legs carry the force when the plug is inserted and removed, so the socket does not move on the board. The plug fits in both orientations. It is used to convert a Micro USB charging input to Type-C, to add a simple charging input to your own boards or to replace the broken socket of small rechargeable devices.
Key features:
Simple power-only design: With 6 pins (2 VBUS, 2 GND, CC1, CC2) it has far fewer and wider spaced pads than a 16 pin socket; it is easy to hand-solder and to lay out.
3A current capacity: The contacts are rated for 3A; at 5V it serves as a charging input up to 15W.
Solid 4-leg mounting: The 4 through-hole fixing legs of the metal shell are soldered to the board; when the cable is pulled, the socket stays with the board and the SMD pads do not lift.
CC1 / CC2 pins available: Since the CC lines have their own pins, a 5.1kΩ resistor on each lets the device take 5V from Type-C to Type-C cables as well.
Horizontal, low profile: The socket lies parallel to the board surface with a height of about 3.2mm; it fits the edge of thin enclosures.
Features:
- Product type: USB Type-C female socket, power-only (charging) version

- Dimensions: approx. 8.7mm x 6.6mm, height approx. 3.2mm
Usage information:
- Place the socket at the board edge, solder the 6 SMD pins to their pads and the 4 fixing legs into their holes. Always solder the fixing legs; they carry the force when the plug is inserted and removed.
- Connect both VBUS pins together to the supply line and both GND pins together to GND. Check the pin order on the product drawing or on the socket before laying out the board.
- Tie CC1 and CC2 to GND, each through its own 5.1kΩ resistor. Without these resistors, Type-C chargers and power banks do not output 5V over a Type-C to Type-C cable; with a USB-A to Type-C cable 5V is present even without the resistors.
Areas of use:
- Powerbank charging input
- Bluetooth speaker charging input
- Rechargeable flashlight and camping lamp
- Rechargeable desk and hand fan
- Rechargeable toys
- Shavers and personal care devices
- Wireless earbuds case charging input
- Converting a Micro USB charging input to Type-C (repair and upgrade)
- Type-C power input for your own 5V circuit boards
Precautions:
- This socket has no D+ / D- data pins; it is not suitable for devices that exchange data with a computer. Use a 16 pin Type-C socket if data is needed.
- Without 5.1kΩ resistors on CC1 and CC2, a charger gives no 5V over a Type-C to Type-C cable; if the device does not charge, check these resistors first.
- The contacts are rated for 3A; do not exceed this current. Getting more than 5V with fast charging (PD) needs a separate PD controller in the circuit; the socket alone does not negotiate voltage.
- The pin pitch is narrow; after soldering, check with a multimeter for solder bridges between neighbouring pins, especially for a short between VBUS and GND.
