     The 150x100x50mm Plastic Project Box is a desktop device style circuit box made of black ABS plastic. It consists of four parts: top body, bottom body and removable front and rear panels; the top and bottom bodies are joined with screws at the corners. Its outer dimensions are 150mm x 100mm x 50mm, wall thickness is 2mm and it weighs 135gr. The box protects the circuit against dust, contact and impact and provides electrical insulation.

     The front and rear panels are flat plastic parts that slide into the slots of the body; they can be removed from the box and machined separately. Holes for a switch, button, LED indicator, panel meter, potentiometer, DC jack, USB, socket and cable exit are easily drilled in these panels, without drilling the body. Inside the top and bottom bodies there are 8 mounting points with holes for fixing pcbs and small circuit boards.

     Its matte black surface and the line pattern on the top cover give a finished device look. Thanks to the 2mm wall thickness it is more rigid than thin plastic boxes. It is suitable for desktop or shelf devices such as power supplies, amplifiers, panel meter measurement boxes, alarms, thermostats, timers, charger units, door access and personnel tracking devices. It is not a waterproof box.

     Removable front and rear panel: The panels are removed from the box, drilled on the bench, then put back in their slots. Placing controls and indicators on the front and power and cable exits on the rear becomes easy.

     Screwed body: The top and bottom bodies are joined with screws at the corners; the body closes more securely than snap-fit boxes.

     Board mounting points: There are 8 holes in the top and bottom bodies for fixing a pcb. You can fix the board by screwing it to the base or to the cover of the box.

     Rigid body: The ABS body is 2mm thick; it is more rigid than standard thin plastic boxes and does not flex easily.

     Large inner volume: With its 150mm x 100mm x 50mm outer size it is enough to gather a small power supply, relay board, display and several modules in the same box.

Usage information:

• To open the box, remove the screws at the corners and lift the top body; pull the front and rear panels out of their slots.
• Drill the holes while the panel is out of the box. First mark the position of your board and connectors on the panel; drill ABS at low speed, at high speed the plastic melts and the edges deform.
• Fix the board to the mounting holes in the body with small screws of suitable size; put the panels back into their slots and screw the top body on.

Precautions:

•  The box is not waterproof; it has no gasket and no IP rating. Because of the panel joints and drilled holes, do not use it in humid, wet or outdoor environments without additional sealing.
•  150mm x 100mm x 50mm is the outer size; the inner volume is smaller because of the 2mm wall thickness and inner mounting points. Check that your board fits by the inner size.
•  In heat producing circuits (power supply, regulator, relay coil) drill ventilation holes in the panels; ABS softens at high temperature.
•  Do not overtighten the screws; plastic screw bosses can strip.
