     The Plastic Project Box 100 x 60 x 25mm is an electronic circuit box made of black ABS plastic. It consists of two parts, the body and a flat lid; the lid is joined to the body with the help of plastic tabs, so no screws are needed to close it. It protects your circuit against dust, impact and touch and gives your project a finished product look.

     The inner size of the box is about 96mm x 56mm with an inner height of about 21mm. This volume is enough for small development boards, relay and sensor modules and small circuits built on perfboard. There are 4 pcb connection points inside the top lid.

     ABS plastic is easily machined with a drill, a milling cutter or a utility knife; you can drill holes in the body or the lid for switches, LEDs, buttons, DC jacks, USB and cable outlets. The flat lid surface is suitable for a label, a printed front panel or a small display window. It is often chosen for projects such as power supplies, amplifiers, alarms, timers and thermostats, and for student projects.

Usage information:

• To open the lid, lift it gently with a thin flat tip from the tab slots on the edge; to close it, press the lid until the tabs snap into place.
• Before drilling, mark the position of your board and connectors on the box. Drill ABS at low speed; at high speed the plastic melts and the edges are damaged.
• Fix the board to the pcb connection points in the lid with a suitable screw; screws are not included, use a small screw that fits the hole of your board.

Precautions:

•  The box is not water and dust proof; for a circuit used outdoors or in a humid place, choose a gasketed box with a stated IP rating.
•  ABS plastic softens when hot. Do not press a hot regulator, power resistor or heatsink against the box wall; drill ventilation holes for a circuit that heats up.
•  The inner height is about 21mm. Before closing, check that tall capacitors, battery holders or vertical connectors on the board fit.
•  Opening and closing the lid often strains the tabs; open it by lifting the tabs side by side, do not force it from one corner.
