     The 30A DC Led Dimmer is used to adjust the brightness of single colour 12V and 24V LED strips, LED lamps and bulbs between 0% and 100% with its rotary knob. Input is DC 12V - 24V and output current is up to 30A; up to 360W of LED load can be driven at 12V and up to 720W at 24V. As the knob is turned from OFF to ON, the light goes from fully off to full brightness; getting only the light you need saves wasted energy.

     Adjustment is done by PWM: the output switches the input voltage on and off rapidly and brightness changes with the on time ratio. Therefore the pulse voltage at the output is always equal to the input voltage; the dimmer cannot be used as a step down converter to run a 12V LED from a 24V supply. Input and output are connected through the 4 way screw terminal on the housing (IN V- V+, OUT V+ V-). With its metal bottom housing for cooling and 4 mounting ears it can be fixed to a wall, inside a cabinet or in a panel.

     It is generally suitable for simple resistive (LED type) loads. It is not suitable for use with motors; for motors you need a DC motor driver module. There are no protection circuits; it is a low cost but working Chinese made product suitable for certain applications.

Usage information:

• Connect the power supply + to IN V+ and - to IN V-; connect the LED + to OUT V+ and - to OUT V-. Make the connections with the power off.
• Choose the power supply by the LED operating voltage: use a 12V supply for 12V LEDs and a 24V supply for 24V LEDs. The best solution is a power supply at the voltage the target circuit needs.
• The power supply and wire cross section must handle the total LED current; use short, thick wires at high currents.
• Always test the product with a load connected. Without a load, a voltmeter shows no voltage change at the output.

Things to consider:

•  It is not suitable for use with motors. If used with inductive or noisy loads, or in high power applications above its ratings, the product will fail.
•  There are no protection circuits. If the input voltage passes straight to the output, the product is considered failed; the mosfets are burnt. This is treated as incorrect use by the user.
•  The pulse voltage at the output equals the input voltage. Powering a 12V LED from 24V can make the LED overheat and burn out even with the knob turned down. Such incorrect use is the user's responsibility.
•  There is no voltage indicator; on a PWM output a voltmeter shows the average value, not the peak voltage reaching the LED.
•  30A and 720W are maximum values. For long use at high load, mount the housing in a ventilated place and stay below the ratings.
