     This connector is a bus plug compatible with 6ES7 972-0BB41-0XA0 that connects the Profibus DP cable to the 9-pin Profibus port of stations such as PLCs, drives, remote I/O and operator panels. The cable outlet is inclined at 35 degrees; thanks to the female DB9 PG socket on its top, a programming cable can be plugged in without opening the line. It works at Profibus DP rates up to 12Mbit/s.

     Inside there are screw terminals for the incoming and outgoing Profibus cables and a terminating resistor switched in by a switch. The line is terminated by setting the switch to ON at the first and last connector of the line; at the connectors in between it stays OFF. The internal metal grounding plate reduces common mode noise; the cable entry angle and strain relief (cable clamp) let the cable leave the connector without stress.

     PG programming socket: The female DB9 socket on the back of the connector lets you plug in a programming cable or a USB-MPI / DP adapter without disconnecting the Profibus line; the station is reached directly in the field.

     35 degree cable outlet: The inclined cable outlet allows easy cable routing inside the control panel on devices mounted side by side such as PLCs and drives.

     Switchable terminating resistor: The terminating resistor is inside the connector and is switched in with the ON / OFF switch; no separate terminator is needed at the start and end of the line.

     Input and output terminals: There are two separate screw connections for the incoming and outgoing Profibus cable; stations are connected one after another on the same cable.

     Grounding and noise suppression: The internal metal grounding plate connects the cable shield to the connector body and reduces common mode noise.

Usage information:

• Open the cover of the connector. Connect the incoming Profibus cable to the input (inward arrow) terminal and the cable going to the next station to the output (outward arrow) terminal; connect the red and green cores to the same terminals (A and B) on both sides, and seat the cable shield on the grounding plate.
• Set the terminating switch to ON on the connector of the first and last station of the line; leave it OFF on all connectors in between. On the connector at the end of the line use only the input terminal.
• Plug the connector into the 9-pin Profibus port of the station and fix it with its two screws. When programming is needed, plug the programming cable into the PG socket on the back of the connector.

Precautions:

•  This product is a connector compatible with Siemens 6ES7 972-0BB41-0XA0; it is not an original Siemens product.
•  Termination must be ON only at the first and last connector of the line. A switch left ON at a connector in between disconnects the rest of the line and communication stops.
•  The terminating resistor is powered from the Profibus port of the station the connector is plugged into. The last connector of the line must stay plugged into a powered station; otherwise communication errors may occur at high rates.
•  Connect the A and B cores to the same terminal on all connectors; swapped cores stop communication.
