     This set is a one-way wireless communication pair consisting of an FS1000A transmitter module and an XY-MK-5V receiver module operating in the 433MHz band. The transmitter broadcasts the digital signal applied to its DATA pin with ASK (OOK) modulation at about 10mW; the receiver demodulates the signal and outputs it in the same form on its own DATA output. The data rate is up to 4Kbps; data travels only from the transmitter to the receiver.

     The transmitter works from 3.5V - 12V and its range increases with the supply voltage; with a suitable antenna and depending on the environment, communication of 20m - 200m is possible. The receiver is powered from 5V, draws about 4mA and has -105dBm sensitivity. The transmitter measures 19mm x 19mm and the receiver 30mm x 14mm; both have 2.54mm pitch pins fitted and plug directly into a breadboard.

     No antenna is fitted on the modules; a wire antenna of about 17cm (straight or wound as a spring) is soldered to the ANT hole. The modules do not encode data; a microcontroller (or an encoder / decoder IC) is used at both ends. It is a low-cost set suitable for wireless remote controls, doorbells, sending sensor data and simple on-off control.

Usage information:

• Transmitter connection: connect VCC to a 3.5V - 12V supply, GND to common GND and DATA to a digital output pin of the microcontroller. If you use a separate supply, join the GNDs.
• Receiver connection: connect VCC to 5V, GND to GND and one of the two DATA pins to a digital input pin of the microcontroller (the two DATA pins are joined on the board).
• Antenna: solder an insulated or bare single-core wire of about 17cm (quarter wavelength of 433MHz) to the ANT hole of each module; the wire can be left straight or wound as a spring to save space. Without an antenna the range becomes very short.
• The modules carry a raw ASK signal; for reliable data use a software library that does ASK encoding (e.g. RadioHead ASK, rc-switch) or an encoder / decoder IC at both ends.

Precautions:

•  Communication is one-way: data travels only from the transmitter to the receiver. For two-way communication two separate pairs or a transceiver module such as the HC-12 is needed.
•  The receiver works from 5V; with 3.3V boards the receiver must be powered from 5V and its DATA output adapted to the input level of the board.
•  With no signal, the receiver gives random noise on its DATA output and is affected by other 433MHz devices in the same band; verify the data in software with a header and checksum.
•  No antenna is fitted on the modules; without a soldered antenna the range becomes very short.
•  Range values are for open space; walls and metal obstacles shorten the range.
