Red Black Hexagon Connector Speaker Power Supply Amplifier Socket

     This product is a panel mount connection terminal in which a red and a black female banana socket are joined on a single black plastic base. The sockets accept 4mm banana plugs and their centres are 19mm apart; so besides single 4mm banana plugs, 19mm spaced dual banana plugs can also be plugged in directly. The body measures 40mm x 34.5mm x 15mm.

     On the back, each socket has a gold plated M5 threaded metal stud with a nut. The cable end (ring or fork lug) is connected by clamping it onto this stud with the nut. The red socket is used for the positive (+) pole and the black socket for the negative (-) pole; the colour code prevents mixing up the poles. The contacts are gold plated and not magnetic.

     It is suitable for fitting to the rear panel of amplifiers and speaker cabinets, the output of laboratory power supplies, test and measurement setups and the output of charger units. Since the two sockets come on a one-piece base, no alignment is needed on the panel and mounting is done in one step.

     Colour coded poles: The red socket is used for positive (+), the black socket for negative (-); pole mix-ups in speaker and power connections are prevented.

     Gold plated contacts: The socket interior and the rear stud are gold plated; the contacts are not magnetic.

Usage information:

• Drill two holes 19mm apart in the panel for the two studs; insert the terminal from the front of the panel and tighten the studs with the nut from behind.
• Terminate the cable with a ring or fork lug, slide the lug onto the stud and clamp it with the nut; if an extra nut is needed for the panel and the lug, use an M5 nut. Connect the positive cable to the red socket and the negative cable to the black socket.
• Plug in a 4mm banana plug or a 19mm spaced dual banana plug from the front; push the plug fully into the socket.

Precautions:

•  The sockets are for 4mm banana plugs; 5mm or 2mm plugs do not fit, do not force them.
•  The current rating of this product is not specified (similar dual sockets are rated between 10A and 30A); for high current power connections prefer a terminal with a known current rating, suitable for the cable cross-section.
•  Do not overtighten the nuts; the plastic base may crack.
•  Do not use for mains voltage (220V) connections; the exposed metal studs and the banana socket are open to touch.
