DS9092 iButton reader is available in our store.

     The DS1990A iButton Tag is a stainless steel ID button fixed in a plastic key fob holder (iButton / Touch Memory, TM). Inside the button is a 64 bit unique ID number written at the factory that cannot be changed: an 8 bit family code (01), a 48 bit serial number and an 8 bit CRC. The number is also marked on the face of the button. As soon as the button touches the reader probe, the number is read over the 1-Wire line at 16.3kbps in less than 5ms.

     The button has no battery; it takes its operating power from the reader data line, so it needs no battery replacement or maintenance. The centre face is data and the outer ring is ground; thanks to the steel can, which resists dirt, moisture and shock, it is also used at outdoor points such as door entries. The F5 size button (17.35mm diameter, 5.9mm thick) is firmly seated in the key fob holder and attaches to a key ring through the holder's hole.

     It is used as the key that identifies a person in door and turnstile access control, elevator floor authorization, time and attendance, guard tour control, arming and disarming alarm panels and Akbil type public transport credit systems where the balance is kept in the system. A DS9092 or another 1-Wire iButton probe reader is required for reading.

Key features:

     Fixed unique ID: The 64 bit number of each button is unique and fixed at the factory; it cannot be erased or changed later. The number is also printed on the button face and can be checked during enrolment.

     No battery, no maintenance: It takes power from the 2.8V - 6V reader data line; there is no battery to run out or charge.

     Touch and read: A short touch on the reader probe is enough; the number is read in less than 5ms over a single data line and ground return (1-Wire).

     Rugged steel can: The stainless steel button resists dirt, moisture and shock; unlike a card it does not bend.

     Key fob form: The button is firmly fixed in the plastic holder; it is carried on a key ring and a name or number can be written on the flat face of the holder.

Usage information:

• Press the steel face of the button onto the reader probe (e.g. DS9092); the centre of the probe must touch the centre face of the button and its edge the outer ring. The reader reads the 64 bit number the moment you touch it.
• Before using a new key, enrol it in the system it belongs to (door, time attendance, alarm panel). The number printed on the button face (family code 01, serial number, CRC) can be used for checking during enrolment.
• Attach it to a key ring through the holder hole; you can tell keys apart by writing a name or sequence number on the flat face of the holder.

Things to consider:

•  The DS1990A is a read only ID; its number cannot be written. The number of another key you have cannot be transferred to this product.
•  A contact (1-Wire) reader is required; RFID and 125kHz card readers do not read this button.
•  If you are adding it to an existing system, check that the system accepts DS1990A (family code 01) iButtons.
•  Do not apply more than 6V to the reader line.
•  No balance or other data is stored in the button; only the ID number is read. Credit and balance are kept in the system it belongs to; this product cannot replace an Istanbulkart or the old Akbil.
