     EC8 is a 2 pin power connector with a blue nylon housing, used to connect very high current battery, accumulator and motor controller cables. The pack contains one male and one female housing and 4 gold plated bullet contacts with 8mm diameter that fit into them. The contacts carry 120A in continuous use and up to 200A for short periods.

     The contacts come separate from the housing: they are first soldered to the cable, then pushed into the housing from the back until seated. This way the plastic housing does not heat up during soldering. The two ends of the housing have different shapes, so the male and female parts only mate in the correct direction; the "+" and "-" marks on the housing show the polarity, so the plus and minus ends of the battery cannot be reversed. The rear end of the contacts takes thick 8AWG - 10AWG cable.

     It is used in very high current setups where the XT90 (4.5mm, 45A) is not enough, such as large drones and multicopters, large scale RC cars and airplanes and electric vehicle battery packs. Battery outputs, ESC inputs, extension cables and charging cables can be made with this connector.

     Gold plated contacts: The contacts are gold plated; the slotted spring structure of the male contacts fits tightly into the female contact and keeps the contact resistance low.

     Thick cable fit: 8AWG - 10AWG cable fits into the solder cup of the contact; according to some sellers cable up to 6AWG can be used.

Usage information:

• The part with the female contacts is usually fitted to the battery and the part with the male contacts to the device (ESC, charging cable); this way the contacts stay inside the housing at the exposed end of the battery. Connect the polarity according to the "+" and "-" marks on the housing.
• First slide heat shrink tubing over the cable. Tin the solder cup of the contact, insert the cable into the cup and solder it; use a high power soldering iron because the 8mm contact is large. Pull the tubing over the contact and heat it.
• After the soldered contact has cooled, push it into the housing from the back into the correct chamber (plus or minus) and check that it is seated; make sure the contact does not slide back out of the housing.

Precautions:

•  The continuous current is 120A; 200A is only a short period peak value. Under continuous load the current is also limited by the wire size and solder quality; thin cable or a cold solder joint heats the connector.
•  When soldering to the battery, make sure the plus and minus cables do not touch each other; a short circuit on a LiPo battery can cause a fire. Solder the cables one by one and insulate them immediately with tubing.
•  Do not solder the contact while it is fitted in the housing; the nylon housing softens and the contact sits crooked. The contact is fitted into the housing after the solder has cooled.
•  EC8 does not mate with XT90, XT60, EC5 or MT60 connectors; both ends to be connected must be EC8.
•  This connector has no anti spark resistor; a spark may be seen at the first contact when plugging in a high voltage battery.
