     XT30 is a 2-pin power connector used in small LiPo batteries and light RC vehicles. This package contains 1 male and 1 female XT30 connector; it is shipped without cable and the cable is soldered by the user. The contacts are 2mm diameter gold plated spring brass; the continuous current is 15A and the short-term (peak) current is up to 30A. The total weight of the pair is 1.8gr.

     One edge of the yellow nylon housing is chamfered; the male and female parts fit into each other in one direction only, so a reverse polarity connection is prevented. The mated pair fits tightly and fully. The half-open solder cup behind the contacts makes soldering 20AWG - 18AWG cable easy. The housing is built to withstand the heat produced during soldering and at high current; the operating temperature is -20°C - 120°C.

     The male part measures about 12mm x 11mm x 6mm and the female part about 13mm x 11mm x 6mm; it is clearly smaller and lighter than the XT60. That is why it is preferred for the battery connection of small drones and FPV vehicles, for ESC and charging cables, and for making extension and adapter cables.

Usage information:

• Slide heat shrink tubing onto the cable before soldering. Soldering the male and female parts while mated prevents the contacts from shifting under heat.
• Using the chamfered edge as reference, solder the positive (+) and negative (-) cable to the correct pin; a female connector is usually used on the battery side so that no bare pin is left at the open end.
• After soldering, pull the tubing over the contacts and heat it; leave no bare metal.

Precautions:

•  30A is only the short-term (peak) value; the continuous current should not exceed 15A. Under continuous load the cable cross-section, solder quality and ventilation also limit the current; if the connector heats up, reduce the load or use an XT60.
•  Do not hold the soldering tip on it for long; excessive heat can soften the nylon housing and shift the contacts.
•  Check the poles before soldering; a wrongly soldered connector connects the battery in reverse despite the chamfered housing.
•  This product does not mate with XT60 and XT90 connectors; it mates only with XT30.
