     XT90 is a 2 pin power connector with a yellow nylon housing, used to connect high current LiPo batteries, ESCs and chargers to each other. The package contains one male and one female part. Thanks to its 4.5mm gold plated brass bullet contacts it carries 45A continuous current and up to 90A for short periods. The voltage rating is up to 500V DC.

     One edge of the housing is chamfered; the male and female parts mate only in the correct direction, so the positive and negative leads of the battery cannot be reversed. The male housing carries a "+" mark. The rear end of each contact is a half open solder cup; 10AWG wire (up to 8AWG according to some sellers) is easily soldered into it. The housing is made of heat resistant nylon (polyamide, UL94 V0) and keeps its shape during soldering and at the temperature reached under high current.

     With this connector you can build battery outputs, ESC inputs, extension leads, parallel leads and charger adapters. It is used in high current setups such as large drones, RC cars, boats, electric bikes and scooters, where XT60 is not enough.

     Easy soldering: The half open solder cup accepts 10AWG wire (up to 8AWG according to some sellers); the wire is laid into the cup and soldered.

     Heat resistant housing: The UL94 V0 nylon housing works between -20°C - 120°C and is rated for about 1000 mating cycles.

Usage information:

• The female part is usually fitted to the battery and the male part to the device (ESC, charge lead); this way the contacts at the exposed battery end stay inside the housing. Connect the polarity according to the "+" mark on the male housing.
• Slide heat shrink tubing over the wire before soldering. Tin the solder cup first, lay the wire into the cup and solder it, then pull the tubing over the contact and heat it.
• Keeping the mating part plugged in while soldering prevents the contact from moving and the housing from softening and shifting.

Precautions:

•  The continuous current is 45A (some manufacturer distributors state 40A; staying below 40A under continuous load is safer); 90A is only a short time peak value. Under continuous load the current is also limited by the wire size and the solder quality; thin wire or a cold solder joint heats the connector.
•  When soldering to a battery, make sure the positive and negative wires never touch; a short circuit on a LiPo battery can cause a fire. Solder the wires one by one and insulate each with tubing immediately.
•  Do not heat the contact for a long time while soldering; the nylon housing softens and the contact may sit crooked.
•  XT90 does not mate with XT60 or XT30 connectors; both ends to be connected must be XT90.
•  This is the standard XT90, not the anti-spark resistor type; a spark may be seen at the first contact when plugging in a high voltage battery.
