     18650 Battery Holder 2x (Battery Box 2) is a wired battery holder that holds two 3.7V 18650 lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries side by side. Inside the holder the two batteries are connected in series; the red and black wire ends give nominal 7.4V, and 8.4V with fully charged batteries. The black ABS plastic body has an open top; batteries are inserted and removed without soldering.

     Each battery slot has a spring metal contact at one end and a flat metal contact at the other; the spring holds the battery firmly and contact is not lost under vibration. The 76mm x 41mm x 20mm holder is fixed to a robot car chassis, a box or a panel with screws through the holes in its base or with double sided tape. The open-ended wires are soldered directly to a charger module, a BMS protection board, a motor driver or a step-down converter.

     It is suitable for robot cars, motorized toys and portable devices that need 7.4V instead of a single cell. The holder is delivered without batteries.

Usage information:

• Insert the batteries according to the marks in the holder: the negative (-) end of each battery goes to the spring, the positive (+) end to the flat metal contact. Because of the series connection the two batteries sit in opposite directions.
• Connect the red wire to the positive (+) and the black wire to the negative (-) input of the circuit; before connecting, check with a multimeter that the wire ends show 7.4V - 8.4V.
• To charge the batteries in the holder use a 2S (8.4V) lithium charger module and a 2S BMS protection board; a single cell (4.2V) charger module is not used with this holder.

Precautions:

•  The holder is delivered without batteries; 18650 batteries are not included in the package.
•  In series connection use two batteries of the same brand, same capacity and same charge level together; different batteries discharge unevenly and the weaker battery gets damaged.
•  The holder has no protection circuit. Use a 2S BMS protection board with unprotected 18650 batteries; do not let the wire ends touch each other, a lithium battery gets very hot on short circuit.
•  Long protected 18650 batteries (about 68mm - 70mm) may not fit in the holder.
•  With only one battery inserted the series circuit is not complete and there is no output voltage; both batteries must be inserted.
