    The ESP-01 is a wifi communication module developed with the ESP-8266 chip. It can be used in all applications that require internet communication. It is ideal for getting started with IOT applications.  With its dimensions of 2.5x1.5cm and male pin header connections, it is very easy to use. Its standard serial port uart communication allows it to be used comfortably with all kinds of microcontrollers and arduino. The module works with 3.3V.

    ESP8266 is a highly integrated chip designed for the needs of a new connected world. It offers a complete and self-contained Wi-Fi networking solution, allowing it to either host the application or to offload all Wi-Fi networking functions from another application processor. ESP8266 has powerful on-board processing and storage capabilities that allow it to be integrated with the sensors and other application specific devices through its GPIOs with minimal development up-front and minimal loading during runtime. Its high degree of on-chip integration allows for minimal external circuitry, and the entire solution, including front-end module, is designed to occupy minimal PCB area.

    The module(ESP-01) can work with AT command when used with Arduino, USB to TTL adaptor (FTDI USB module is recommended). Additional power supply might be needed to power up the board.With GCC toochain and SDK availability opportunities with ESP8266 as a IOT device is endless.

    Important note:  This is a 3.3v module, ensure it is only connected to the 3v lines on your micro-controller, direct 5v will damage the module. In addition to the 3.3v power supply for the module, 5v TTL data lines also need to shifted to 3.3v. When using the module with a 5V micro-controller, such as a standard Arduino,  ensure to use a level shifter on the URXD pin - a simple resistor-zener level shifter is sufficient. Again, this is to prevent over-voltage.
