BMP180 Digital Air Pressure Sensor
It is a pressure sensor built using the Bosch BMP180 sensor. It is a sensor module that measures the pressure in the air and gives a digital output. Since the sensor altitude can be determined from the air pressure, it can be used in many applications, primarily various multicopter projects. Communication is established in the I2C communication format.
The BMP180 can measure pressure values between 300 - 1100 hPa and provides information about altitude between 500 meters and 9000 meters. It has a very high resolution of 0.03 hPa (0.25meter).
The BMP180 is the new digital barometric pressure sensor of Bosch Sensortec, with a very high performance, which enables applications in advanced mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablet PCs and sports devices. It follows the BMP085 and brings many improvements, like the smaller size and the expansion of digital interfaces.
The ultra-low power consumption down to 3 uA makes the BMP180 the leader in power saving for your mobile devices. BMP180 is also distinguished by its very stable behavior (performance) with regard to the independency of the supply voltage. Measuring the absolute pressure of the enviroment using a digital barometer such as this has some interesting applications. By converting the pressure measured into altitude, you have a reliable sensor for determining the height of your robot, plane .
Using a sensor as capable as the BMP180 you can achieve accurary of 1m, with noise of only 17cm in ultra high resolution noise.
Using I2C, the device provides pressure and temperature as 16bit values, which are used along with calibration data within the device are used to provide a temperature compensated altitude calculation.
