PAM8610 2x15W Class D Stereo Amplifier Circuit Module
Audio Amp Booster Speaker Driver 12V Powered Car Caravan Boat Computer Speaker Portable Speaker Music Box Announcement
The PAM8610 Module Black is a two channel (stereo) audio amplifier board based on the PAM8610 Class D chip. It operates from 7V - 15V, with the best results at 12V. It delivers up to 15W per channel into 4Ω speakers and up to 10W per channel into 8Ω speakers. Running from 12V it gives much louder sound than 2x5W 5V amplifiers, and its efficiency of around 90% keeps it cool; it amplifies the sound from the headphone / line output of a phone, computer or sound card directly to the speakers.
The board measures approximately 31mm x 25mm and has a mounting hole in each of its four corners. Power (+12V, GND), audio input (R_IN, GND, L_IN), left and right speaker outputs (L+ L-, R+ R-) and the SW mute pads are wired to the solder holes on the edge of the board; there is no pin header and no volume potentiometer on the board, the volume is set at the source. When the SW pads are shorted the amplifier is muted.
Running from 12V, it suits car, caravan and boat sound systems, computer speakers powered from a 12V adapter, portable speakers and announcement systems. The chip has over current, over temperature and short circuit protection.
Key features:
15W per channel: At 12V it delivers up to 15W per channel into 4Ω and 10W into 8Ω; two speakers give stereo sound.
12V supply: Works from 7V - 15V; it can be powered from a 12V adapter or a 12V battery. The recommended supply is 12V, at least 2A.
High efficiency Class D design: Efficiency is around 90%; power goes to sound rather than heat; no heatsink is needed below 20W in total.
Mute (SW) input: A switch or relay contact on the SW pads mutes the amplifier; sound is turned off without cutting the power.
Small board with screw mounting: The approximately 31mm x 25mm board is screwed into a box or speaker cabinet through the mounting holes in its four corners.

Usage information:
- Solder the positive of the 12V (7V - 15V) supply to +12V and the negative to GND. The supply must deliver at least 2A.
- Connect the left channel of the audio source to L_IN, the right channel to R_IN and the ground (shield) of the audio cable to the middle GND.
- Connect the left speaker to L+ and L- and the right speaker to R+ and R-. Set the volume at the source (phone, computer); if muting is needed connect a switch to the SW pads.
Application areas:
- Car sound systems and in-car announcement
- Caravan and boat sound systems
- Computer speakers powered from a 12V adapter
- Portable speaker and Bluetooth speaker building
- Music box and home music sets
- Shop, school and workshop announcement systems
- Arcade machine and jukebox sound circuits
- TV and monitor sound boosting
- Renewing old speakers
Precautions:
- Audio outputs must not be shorted to each other or to ground. The outputs may be damaged. The outputs are bridge-tied; do not connect L- and R- to GND and do not join the two channels on one speaker.
- A heatsink on the chip is required for use above 20W in total.
- The supply must not exceed 15V (the chip operating range is 7V - 15V); the chip can be damaged above this limit. Do not reverse the positive and negative wires.
- Do not use speakers below 4Ω. 15W output is reached only with 4Ω speakers at 12V; with 8Ω speakers the power drops to 10W.
- The input expects line / headphone level audio; do not connect a microphone directly, a preamplifier is needed.
