Servo Motor / Brushless DC Motor Test Device
PWM Signal Generator Speed Adjustment Potentiometer Manual Neutral Automatic Mode RC Airplane Helicopter Drone Quadcopter Car Boat Remote
The Servo Motor Tester is a 3 channel test device used to test servo motors and brushless motor speed controllers (ESC) without a transmitter, receiver, extra circuit or software. It is powered from DC 4.8V-6V and gives a PWM signal in the 1.5ms ±0.5ms range on its 3 outputs at the same time; so 3 servos or 3 ESCs can be connected and run together. You can test your servos and ESCs without flying and see whether your hardware works; in case of a fault it makes it easier to find where the problem is.
The device has 3 test modes: in Manual mode the output is set with the rotary knob on top, in Neutral mode the output stays fixed at the center position (1.5ms), in Automatic mode the output sweeps by itself between the lowest and highest values. The mode is chosen with the Select button; the Man, Neutral and Auto leds show the selected mode. The supply input (IN) is on one side and the 3 S / + / - outputs are on the other side as pins; standard 3-pin servo and ESC plugs fit directly. The blue cased device, weighing about 8gr, is also used for matching CCPM helicopter servos to each other.
Key features:
Test without a transmitter: No transmitter or receiver is needed to try a servo or ESC; the device generates its own PWM signal and the connected part runs right away.
3 channels at once: The same signal is sent to all 3 outputs. 1-3 servos can be connected to compare response and position differences (CCPM servo matching), or the response of 1-3 ESCs can be compared.
3 test modes: The desired position or speed with the knob in Manual mode, the 1.5ms center position in Neutral mode, continuous sweeping between lowest and highest in Automatic mode.
Servo horn centering: Neutral mode brings the servo to the center position; this makes it easy to align the servo horn and linkage rods at center before fitting them to the mechanism.
Small and light: At about 46mm x 32mm x 17mm and about 8gr it fits in a tool case and is ready to use in the field with a battery or BEC.
Features:
- Product type: 3 channel servo and ESC test device (CCPM Servo Consistency Master)
- Supply voltage: DC 4.8V-6V
- Number of channels: 3 outputs; 1-3 servos or 1-3 ESCs at the same time

- Color: Blue
- Dimensions: about 46mm x 32mm x 17mm (with pins); body about 35mm x 31mm
- Weight: about 8gr
Usage information:
- Connect the 4.8V-6V supply (e.g. a 4 cell NiMH battery or a 5V BEC) to the IN pins, paying attention to the S / + / - order. Plug the servo or ESC into the OUT pins with the signal wire on the S side.
- Select the mode with the Select button; the lit led shows the selected mode. In Manual mode turn the knob to move the servo to the desired angle; in Neutral mode bring the servo to center and fit the servo horn in this position.
- When testing an ESC, first select Manual mode and turn the knob to the lowest position, then connect the ESC battery and turn the knob slowly to increase the motor speed.
Applications:
- Pre-flight check of RC airplane and glider servos
- Matching helicopter CCPM swashplate servos
- Drone brushless motor and ESC testing
- Quadcopter motor rotation and response check
- Car (RC model) steering servo and ESC testing
- Boat rudder servo and motor testing
- Center position setting of robot arm servos
- Aligning servo horns and linkage rods
- Finding faulty servos and ESCs, service and repair
- System trials without a receiver
Precautions:
- Always remove the propeller when testing brushless motors and ESCs; the motor may spin unexpectedly.
- In Neutral mode a 1.5ms (half throttle) signal goes to the ESC and the motor may spin. Before connecting the ESC, select Manual mode and turn the knob to the lowest position.
- The supply voltage must not exceed 6V. Do not reverse + and - on the IN input; the device may be damaged.
- The current drawn by the servos comes from the supply. When running 3 servos at once, use a battery or BEC that gives enough current.
- Automatic mode sweeps the servo over its widest angle. Check the mechanical limits before running a servo fitted to a mechanism in this mode.
