1S 3A Lithium Battery BMS Protection Board + Nickel Strip

Suitable for 3,7V 18650 batteries. It does not charge the battery.

     The 1S 3A BMS + Nickel Strip is a single cell lithium battery protection board supplied with nickel strips soldered to both ends of the board. It is suitable for 3.7V 18650 Li-ion batteries. It cuts off charging when the battery voltage rises to 4.25V and cuts the current to the load when it drops to 2.54V; it disconnects the battery when the load current reaches 3A or when the output is short circuited. The maximum continuous charge and discharge current is 2A. It does not charge the battery; it is used to protect the battery from disruptive effects such as high voltage and high current.

     The board measures 40mm x 4mm x 3mm. A nickel strip is soldered to each of the B- and B+ ends; the board is laid along the battery body, the strips reach the - and + terminals of the battery and are connected to the battery by soldering or spot welding. No wires need to be prepared, and the battery and board are packed as one piece. The P- and P+ pads for the load and charger are in the middle of one side of the board (according to the board print, P- on the B- side and P+ on the B+ side). You also need a separate lithium battery charger board for charging.

Key features:

     Nickel strips pre-soldered: The nickel strips on the B+ and B- ends come assembled with the board; no wire or extra strip is needed to connect the battery, which makes soldering easy.

     Overcharge protection: Cuts the charge current when the battery voltage reaches 4.25V and reconnects when it falls below 4.23V; the battery is protected against overcharge.

     Over-discharge protection: Disconnects the load when the battery voltage drops to 2.54V; the battery is protected against deep discharge.

     Overcurrent and short circuit protection: The battery connection is cut when the load current reaches 3A or the output is short circuited.

     Thin board that fits beside the cell: The 40mm x 4mm x 3mm board lies along the body of an 18650 cell; it adds only a few millimetres to the pack.

Usage information:

• Lay the board along the battery body; solder or spot weld the nickel strip on the B+ end to the + terminal of the battery and the strip on the B- end to the - terminal. You can cut the strips shorter if needed.
• Connect the load and the charger output to the P+ and P- pads; the battery is then charged and discharged only through these terminals.
• To charge the battery, connect a lithium battery charger board with 4.2V output to P+ and P-. The board does not set the charge current; the charger board sets it, and it must not exceed 2A.
• Do not heat the battery for long while soldering the nickel strip; clean the terminal first, use flux and finish the joint quickly.

Precautions:

•  The 3A value is the protection (cut-off) threshold, not the continuous operating current. Keep the continuous charge and discharge current below 2A.
•  The board does not charge the battery. Use a separate lithium battery charger board; do not connect the board directly to a 5V adapter.
•  The board is for a single cell (1S, 3.7V). It is not used in packs with 2 or more cells in series (7.4V, 11.1V) and is not suitable for LiFePO4 (3.2V) cells.
•  Connect the B+ strip to the + terminal and the B- strip to the - terminal; reverse connection can damage the board and the battery. Put insulating tape between the nickel strip and the battery body and the opposite terminal.
•  Do not apply soldering heat to the battery for long; excessive heat damages the battery.
