     The Pot Knob 30mm is a wide and low profile turning knob fitted on potentiometers, encoders and rotary switches with a 6mm knurled shaft. Its outer diameter is 30mm and its height is 10mm. The outer shell is black aluminum, with a plastic inner body inside that grips the shaft; thanks to this construction it weighs only 5gr.

     The top surface has a circular brushed pattern, a bright silver colored chamfer on the edge and a marker line showing the position. The side surface has fine horizontal lines. There is vertical knurling inside the shaft hole; the knob is pressed onto a knurled shaft and the knurls grip the shaft to keep the knob from slipping. No screw is needed to fit it.

     The 30mm diameter gives a wide grip surface for the finger; it makes precise turning easy in volume, voltage, speed and temperature adjustments that need fine control. It is used as the main adjustment knob on the front panels of amplifiers, mixers, active speakers, radios, adjustable power supplies, dimmers, fan speed controllers and soldering stations.

Usage information:

• First fix the potentiometer to the panel with its nut; turn the shaft fully left and align the marker line of the knob with the start point of the panel scale.
• Press the knob straight onto the shaft and push until the knurls grip the shaft; leave enough clearance for the knob to turn without touching the panel.
• If the shaft is long, shorten it by cutting so that the base of the knob sits close to the panel without touching it; the knob height is 10mm.

Precautions:

•  The knob is for a 6mm knurled shaft. It may not hold tightly on a plain or D type shaft; it does not fit a 6.35mm (1/4 inch) shaft.
•  Do not hammer the knob onto the shaft or force it sideways; the plastic inner body can crack.
•  The knob has no set screw; if it is fitted and removed very often, the knurled seat may loosen.
•  The 30mm diameter takes up wide space; if several knobs are fitted side by side, leave more than 30mm between shaft centers.
