     The 5cm 8ohm 5W Speaker is a round mini speaker with a 50mm diameter, 8 Ohm impedance and a 5W power rating. Its magnet sits inside the metal frame, under the cylindrical cap at the rear centre (internal magnet design), so the back stays compact and the speaker fits easily into narrow enclosures. The magnet cap is printed with "8Ω 5W".

     The black flexible surround on the front lets the cone move freely, while the metal frame keeps the speaker rigid. The terminal plate on the back has 2 solder terminals marked "+" and "-"; the wire is passed through the terminal hole and soldered. With a height of about 20mm and a weight of about 17gr it fits small housings such as Bluetooth speaker boxes, toys, doorbells and announcement devices.

     The speaker is connected to the output of an audio amplifier rated for an 8 Ohm load. The 5W rating printed on the magnet cap shows that the speaker can be driven by a stronger amplifier output than 0.5W - 1W mini speakers of the same size; the actual loudness depends on the amplifier and the enclosure. Usage information:

• Connect the speaker to the amplifier's speaker output: solder the amplifier "+" output to the speaker "+" terminal and the "-" output to the "-" terminal. In two-speaker (stereo) use, wire both speakers with the same polarity.
• When the speaker is placed in a closed box or behind a panel, open the sound holes in front of it close to the cone diameter; keeping the rear sound wave from leaking to the front improves the bass.
• Solder the terminals quickly; a terminal plate and coil leads heated for a long time can be damaged.

Precautions:

•  Do not drive the speaker loudly for long periods from an amplifier output stronger than 5W; the coil heats up and can be damaged.
•  The speaker is 8 Ohm. Check the lowest load impedance supported by the amplifier; wiring two speakers in parallel lowers the load to 4 Ohm.
•  Do not connect the speaker directly to a DC voltage (battery, adapter); only a click is heard and the coil can overheat and burn. Always drive it through an amplifier or sound module.
•  Do not press on the cone or the flexible front surround and keep sharp objects away; a torn cone distorts the sound.
•  The magnet is strong; keep the speaker away from magnetic cards, compasses and sensitive measuring instruments.
