     This product is a 160mm long, flat (paddle type) 8dBi dual band Wifi antenna with an RP-SMA male (female pin) connector. It works in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz (5.8GHz) bands. The nut of the RP-SMA male connector has an inner thread and a hole (female pin) instead of a center pin; it screws directly onto an RP-SMA female (outer thread, center pin) antenna socket. Most home modems, routers, access points, repeaters and Wifi network cards (PCI / PCIe, USB) have this socket.

     The black plastic body has a hinge at the bottom; the antenna can be set straight (180 degrees) or at a right angle (90 degrees), so it stays vertical whether the modem stands horizontally or vertically. It is an omnidirectional antenna with vertical polarization; impedance is 50ohm and it withstands up to 50W input power. Length is 160mm and weight is 14gr. It replaces the short antenna of a modem or router; it fits RP-SMA socket 802.11 b/g/n/ac devices of brands such as TP-Link, Huawei, Asus, D-Link, Linksys, Netgear and Edimax.

     The same looking antenna is also available with an SMA male (center pin) connector; video transmitters, SDR receivers and SMA socket modules need that version. The product in this listing is the RP-SMA male (female pin) version. Increasing the RF power provides a better connection, but it also increases its harmful effect on living beings.

Usage information:

• Check the antenna socket of your device: if the socket has an outer thread and a center pin (RP-SMA female), this antenna fits. If the socket has a center hole (SMA female), the SMA male version is needed. Screw the antenna clockwise by hand; do not tighten with pliers.
• Set the antenna upright using its hinge. On modems with several antenna sockets, replace all antennas with the same type and keep them vertical.
• On Mini PCIe / M.2 Wifi cards, the antenna is taken outside the case with an IPEX - RP-SMA female extension cable; the cable is not included.

•  Please pay attention to the socket type ( Male – Female ) when purchasing ! This product is RP-SMA male (female pin, center hole). It does not fit the SMA female (center hole) socket on video transmitters, SDR and SMA socket modules; they need the SMA male version.
•  The antenna is for the 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz Wifi bands; it is not used as a mobile line antenna for 2G / 3G / 4G (GSM, LTE) modems. On 4G modems it is fitted only to the Wifi antenna socket.
•  8dBi is the gain value given by sellers; the improvement depends on walls and obstacles in the environment.
•  Switch off the modem while fitting or removing the antenna; removing the antenna while the modem is transmitting may damage the transmitter circuit.
•  Increasing the RF power provides a better connection, but it also increases its harmful effect on living beings.
