     EXPK01 Black is a 9cm x 5.3cm handheld black ABS plastic box made by Expkits for small circuit boards. It consists of 2 parts, a bottom and a top; supports in the bottom box hold the PCB in place, and the box and PCB are fixed together with 4 screws. With one rounded end and soft edged corners, it gives a finished device look to handheld circuits such as programmers, data recorders and small measurement devices.

     At one end of the box there is an input window through which a mini USB or Type-C socket can come out, and on the other side an output window wide enough for a 6 pin header. In this way a circuit powered by USB and connected to a computer can be placed in the box together with a 6 pin connection for programming or communication. The top and bottom surfaces have a recessed (pool) area where a label can be applied; product name, connection diagram or logo is stuck in this area.

     Screwed structure with PCB supports: The supports in the bottom box hold the PCB in place; 4 screws fix both parts of the box and the PCB together.

     Label pool: A label stuck in the recessed area on the top and bottom surfaces stays inside the surface and does not overhang the edges.

     Handheld body: With 9cm x 5.3cm size and a rounded end it is easy to carry in a pocket or in the hand.

     Black ABS: Made of black ABS plastic; it is opaque and the circuit inside is not visible from outside.

Usage information:

• When designing the PCB, place the USB socket at the board edge so that it meets the input window of the box and the 6 pin header so that it meets the output window; position the screw holes of the board according to the supports in the bottom box.
• Seat the PCB on the supports in the bottom box, close the top box and fix the box and board together with 4 screws.
• Stick the label with product name or connection information in the recessed area on the top or bottom surface.

Points to consider:

•  This product is black and opaque. If a display or LED inside must be visible, a window must be cut in the top surface of the box.
•  The box comes empty; circuit board, USB socket and pin header are not included.
•  Design the PCB as 84mm x 48mm with 2mm radius corners according to the manufacturer's technical drawing. The plastic legs inside the box press on the PCB; do not place components within a 3.5mm radius of the centre of the 4 screw holes.
•  Do not overtighten the screws; plastic screw bosses may strip if forced.
•  Do not leave the box outside the -30°C / 65°C operating temperature, on hot surfaces or in direct sunlight for a long time.
