     The HC-SR04 is a popular ultrasonic distance sensor that works with sound waves. It works on the principle of monitoring the sound wave sent from the transmitter sensor by the receiver sensor. It can detect objects within its detection angle and distance with high precision. It stands out with its stable performance and wide detection range.  Its price performance is better than other distance sensors.

     The sensor generates an ultrasonic signal with the short trigger pulse sent from the Trig pin. This signal hits the opposite surface and returns, creating an echo duration on the Echo pin. The microcontroller calculates the distance by measuring this duration. By its structure, it provides a contactless and high-precision measurement. It works directly with all popular control boards such as Arduino, stm32, esp32, pic, raspberry pi. 

     Basic working principle:  For distance measurement, the IO trigger pin is pulled to high level for at least 10us (10 microseconds). The module automatically sends eight 40kHz sound waves and checks whether an echo pulse signal returns. If the signal returns, the Echo output pin goes to high level. The duration of this high level is the time elapsed for the sound wave to be sent and to return.

     Distance calculation formula:        Distance = ((High Level Duration) x (Speed of Sound: 340m/s)) / 2
