ON OFF 1A 250V Mini Round Waterproof Switch Momentary Switch

     The PBS-33B is a 2-pin mini push button with a green dome cap that fits a 12mm panel hole. It works momentarily: the contact is normally open (NO), it closes as long as the button is held down, and when released it returns with a spring and the circuit opens again. The switching rating is 1A at 250V AC and 3A at 125V AC.

     The body has a 12mm thread; it is inserted into the panel from the front and tightened with a metal washer and a metal nut from behind, and it fits panels up to about 3mm thick. The 2 flat metal terminals at the back are suitable for soldering a cable or plugging on a flat (faston) cable terminal. The black plastic bezel and the green plastic cap measure about 18mm in total and weigh about 4gr.

     The green cap is easy to identify on a panel as a start, run or confirm button; used next to a red stop button it gives a clear "start - stop" layout. The same button is also available with black, red, yellow, blue and white caps; control panels can be organized by using a different colour for different functions.

Usage information:

• Drill a 12mm hole in the panel. Remove the nut and washer, pass the button through the front of the panel, fit the washer and nut from behind and tighten by hand; do not overtighten the nut and strain the plastic thread.
• The button has no polarity; connect its 2 terminals in series with the line to be switched. The line is closed as long as the button is held down.
• If you solder, solder the terminal quickly; long heating can soften the plastic body. Insulate the solder joints with heat shrink tubing.

Points to consider:

•  This button works momentarily and does not latch in the pressed position; if you need an on-off (latching) switch, use a latching type button.
•  Do not exceed 1A at 250V AC or 3A at 125V AC; switch high current loads such as motors and heaters through a relay or contactor, not directly.
•  Seller listings describe it as "waterproof", but no IP protection class is given; do not use it where it is directly exposed to water and rain.
•  When used with mains voltage the terminals are exposed; insulate behind the panel and make the connection with the power off.
