     The SOT23-3 PCB is a bare adapter board for converting small 3-pin SOT23-3 SMD parts (transistors, mosfets, diodes, voltage references, small regulators) into a DIP layout. The top side carries 2 SOT23-3 footprints, so two separate SOT23-3 parts can be used on one board. There are 4 holes with 2.54mm (100mil) pitch on each side; the row spacing is 300mil, so the board follows the standard DIP8 IC layout.

     The board is made of 1st class double sided FR4. The bottom side also has 2 SOT23-3 footprints, and the bottom pads are connected to the same pins as the top ones; the part can be soldered on either side. Pads and holes are tin plated; hole 1 is marked with a square pad and the orientation of the SOT23 footprints with a dot on the outline. The board carries "23-3" and "ExpKits" prints. After soldering, the board can be plugged into a breadboard, a perfboard or a DIP8 IC socket.

Usage information:

• Place the SOT23-3 part so that its single-pin side and two-pin side match the pad layout on the board; solder one pin first, check the alignment, then solder the other pins.
• For a breadboard or DIP8 socket, solder a 2.54mm male pin header into the 4 holes on each side; mind the direction of hole 1 (square pad) when plugging in the board.
• Check which SOT23 pin goes to which DIP hole from the tracks on the board or with a multimeter (continuity test) and build your circuit accordingly.

Precautions:

•  The bottom and top pads are connected to the same pins; if parts are soldered at the same position on both sides, they are connected in parallel.
•  Pin functions of SOT23-3 parts (base/collector/emitter, gate/drain/source, anode/cathode) differ from part to part; check the function of the pin reaching each DIP hole against the part's datasheet.
•  Do not heat the small pads for long; use a fine tip soldering iron and flux, excessive heat can lift the pad.
•  The board is bare; SMD parts and pin headers are not included.
