     The SHT20 Sensor Module is a temperature and humidity probe with a 90cm cable, in which the Sensirion SHT20 digital temperature and humidity sensor is placed inside a protective probe head. It measures temperature from -40°C to +125°C and relative humidity from 0% to 100% RH; typical temperature accuracy is ±0.3°C and typical humidity accuracy is ±3% RH. The sensor communicates over IIC (I2C) at address 0x40 and operates at 3.3V.

     The probe head consists of a white breathable plastic protective cap, a brass hexagonal metal body and a white cable gland; it measures approximately 68mm x 15mm. The housing prevents water droplets from reaching the sensor while letting air molecules pass, so the sensor measures the humidity of the environment while being protected from splashing water. A small board inside the probe carries a 10k pull-up resistor and a 0.1uF filter capacitor; the probe connects directly to the IIC pins of the controller board.

     Thanks to the 90cm cable, the sensor can be placed in the environment to be measured (greenhouse, incubator, cold room, cabinet) while the controller board and display stay outside. The cable end is open; the 4 coloured wires connect directly to a terminal block, a connector or the controller board. The function of each wire is printed on the label on the brass body.

     SHT20 digital sensor: Temperature is measured with typical ±0.3°C accuracy and humidity with typical ±3% RH accuracy. The sensor is factory calibrated; values are read digitally over the IIC bus and no user calibration is needed.

     Protected probe head: The breathable protective cap keeps water droplets away from the sensor while letting air reach it; the brass body and the cable gland make the probe a solid single part.

     Ready IIC connection: Thanks to the 10k pull-up resistor and 0.1uF filter capacitor inside the probe, it connects to the SDA and SCL pins of the controller board without extra resistors.

     90cm cable: The sensor goes to the measuring point, while the board and display stay in a dry and accessible place. The cable end comes as 4 open wires.

     Wide measuring range: It measures temperatures from -40°C to +125°C and humidity from 0% to 100% RH; it can be used in very different environments, from cold rooms and warehouses to incubators.

Usage information:

• Read the label on the brass body before connecting. A version with a blue wire also appears in the product pictures, so connect according to the label, not the wire colours. On the probe in the main picture, the red wire goes to 3.3V, the black wire to GND, the green wire to the SDA pin of the controller board and the yellow wire to the SCL pin. The sensor responds at address 0x40.
• Power the sensor with 3.3V. On a 5V controller board take the supply from the 3.3V output of the board and use a 3.3V level shifter on the SDA and SCL lines.
• Place the probe in the environment to be measured so that the protective cap does not get direct sunlight, heater or fan airflow; route the cable to the dry area where the board is located.

Precautions:

•  Operating voltage is 3.3V; the product is damaged if used with 5V. Do not connect the supply or data lines to 5V.
•  Waterproofing applies to the probe head. The open cable end and the connection point must be protected against water and moisture separately. The probe withstands splashing water; it is not meant for continuous immersion in water.
•  Wire colours may vary between production batches; check the label on the brass body before connecting. A reversed supply damages the sensor.
•  Do not remove the protective cap or touch the sensor inside; oil, dust and chemical vapours spoil the humidity measurement.
