     The Cable Junction Box 3 Pin is a cable splice box with three M6 screw terminals, a yellow plastic body and a snap-on cover. On each terminal, the M6 ring lugs of the cables coming from both sides are fitted on the same screw and tightened with a nut; this way three separate lines are joined without soldering, removable and firmly. It carries up to 50A (current drops as voltage rises); the operating voltage is given as DC 12V / 120V.

     The body measures 47mm x 37mm x 18mm and weighs 33gr. There are plastic separating walls between the terminals, cable slots on both sides in line with each terminal and two mounting holes in the body. After the connections are made, the cover is snapped onto its latches; bare lugs and screws stay covered, reducing the risk of touch and short circuit.

     It is used for battery to controller connections on electric bicycles and scooters, for joining the three phase wires of a brushless motor to the driver, and in battery, inverter, solar panel charging systems, boat and caravan DC installations. Three nuts are included in the package.

Usage information:

• Crimp M6 ring lugs suited to the cable cross section on the cable ends. Open the cover, fit the lugs of the two cables to be joined on the same terminal screw from both sides and tighten the nut; do the same for the other two terminals.
• Place the cables in the side slots, check that the lugs do not touch the neighbouring terminal and close the cover by snapping it onto its latches. You can fix the box by screwing it through the two holes in the body.

Precautions:

•  The current is at most 50A and drops as voltage rises; choose the cable cross section and lug according to the current drawn.
•  Tighten the nuts well; a loose connection heats up at high current and may damage the body.
•  Make the connection with the battery or supply disconnected; do not fit or remove lugs while powered.
•  No waterproof rating is given for the box; use extra protection outdoors and in places exposed to water. The ratings are for DC installations, not given for 220V mains wiring.
