Note: The pairs are shipped assembled together. Because the male and female ends arrive plugged into each other, it can be perceived as if only one side has been shipped. Please pay attention to this.

     The 5mm Banana Socket Pair is a 5mm bullet type high current connector made of one male and one female end, used by soldering onto the cable. When the lengthwise slotted contact pin of the male end is pushed into the female sleeve, its spring fingers press against the sleeve and make contact over a wide surface. It is designed to carry 60A continuous current (100A momentary); when plugged together it is 26mm long with a 6.5mm outer diameter, and the pair weighs 5gr.

     The contacts are made of 7u gold plated copper alloy; the gold plating reduces oxidation, keeps contact resistance low and limits heating of the connection at high current. At the rear of both ends there is a solder cup into which the cable is soldered, with a small hole on its side. After soldering, the joint is insulated with heat shrink tubing.

     It is used on Lipo battery leads, on the three phase connection between the ESC and a brushless motor, on the power lines of drones, helicopters, model airplanes, RC cars and boats, and for making charging cables. Because it can be plugged and unplugged, a motor or ESC can be replaced without cutting the cable.

     Spring slotted pin: The contact pin of the male end is slotted lengthwise; it springs as it enters the female sleeve and sits tightly. It holds tightly against loosening on vibrating vehicles.

     7u gold plating: The copper alloy body is 7u gold plated. It protects against oxidation and provides low contact resistance for a long time.

     Solder cup: The cup at the rear of both ends takes thick silicone cable; the cable is soldered and covered with heat shrink for a strong, insulated connection.

     Assembled pair: The male and female ends are shipped plugged into each other. When you open the package, pull the two parts apart.

Usage information:

• Separate the assembled pair from the package by pulling the male and female ends apart.
• Strip the cable end as deep as the solder cup. Heat the connector with a soldering iron and fill the cup with solder, push the cable fully into the cup and do not move it until the solder sets.
• After the connector cools, slide heat shrink tubing over the soldered part and shrink it with heat; on the female end pull the tubing up to the mouth of the sleeve.
• Push the male end fully into the female sleeve; when unplugging, pull the connector, not the cable.

Precautions:

•  Even if a single part appears in the package, the male and female ends are plugged into each other; pull the two parts apart.
•  An exposed end on the battery side increases the risk of short circuit. Use the female end on the battery side and insulate all soldered parts with heat shrink.
•  The current value depends on wire gauge and solder quality. A cold or incomplete solder joint, thin cable and a loosely plugged end heat the connection.
•  Do not heat the connector for a long time while soldering; heat can damage the tubing and cable insulation.
•  This product is a 5mm bullet connector; it does not fit 4mm banana test leads or 4mm banana sockets.
