     The product can only be used in voltage step-up operations. A high voltage input allows you to get better performance. Test the product with test probes before soldering and check its condition. Soldering causes physical change. The input power must always be higher than the output power. Otherwise you cannot convert the voltage. Example; you cannot start a car with a pen battery.

     The XL6009 Step-up Module is a small DC-DC voltage booster board carrying the XL6009E1 switching boost IC. It raises an input voltage between 3V - 32V to a higher output voltage set between 5V-35V with the blue multi-turn potentiometer on the board. The switching current of the IC is 4A maximum; thanks to the 400kHz switching frequency it works with a small inductor and capacitors, and the board measures only 43.5mm x 20.5mm.

     The board has empty pin holes for the input and output voltage connections. Wires or male or female headers can be soldered to these points. Thanks to its small size it fits easily inside portable devices running on batteries and lithium batteries, and into LED strip and fan supplies. Where higher current and terminal block connection are needed, the 5A XL6019 module of the same series can be preferred.

     4A switching current: The XL6009E1 IC gives up to 4A switching current. The available output current stays below this depending on the step-up ratio; cooling is needed at high current.

     Wide adjustment range: A 5V-35V output is obtained from a 3V - 32V input. The output is finely adjusted with the multi-turn potentiometer.

     400kHz switching: The high switching frequency gives low ripple with small filter components; the output ripple is about 50mV and grows as load current and output voltage increase.

     Solder pad connection: The IN+ / IN- and OUT+ / OUT- terminals are solder pads; wires or pin headers are soldered to place the board permanently in the circuit.

Pin connection:

Usage information:

• The potentiometers are multi-turn. They can turn 20-30 turns in each direction. Users often turn them only a little and think the product does not work. You need to turn them a lot to see the effect. Watch the output with a multimeter while turning.
• Connect the power source to the IN+ and IN- pads and the load to the OUT+ and OUT- pads. Before connecting the load, measure the output with a multimeter and set the desired voltage.
• The input power is always greater than the output power. Example: to draw 12V 1A (12W) from 5V, the input source must be able to supply more than 2.4A including the efficiency loss. Choose the current of your source accordingly.

Precautions:

•  The product can only be used in voltage step-up operations. The output voltage must always be set higher than the input voltage; if the input is higher than the set output, the input voltage passes directly to the output.
•  4A is the switching current limit of the IC, not the continuous output current. The available output current drops as the step-up ratio increases; drawing the maximum current continuously can damage the board, cool the IC at high currents.
•  Test the product with test probes before soldering and check its condition. Soldering causes physical change.
•  The input must not exceed 32V and the output must not exceed 35V. The module is non-isolated; input and output ground are common.
