1.8 inch LCD TFT Module
QVGA 128x160 Pixel 1.8” 8 Pin SPI Serial Screen SD Card Socket ST7735 Arduino
Product packages have been opened and tested.
The 1.8 LCD TFT Module is a color TFT display with a 1.8 inch diagonal and 128x160 pixel resolution. The display is driven by the ST7735 driver IC; image data is sent over the SPI serial bus, so the display works with only 5 signal lines (SCK, SDA, A0, RESET, CS) plus power. One edge of the red board carries a soldered 8 pin male header for the display, and the opposite edge has a separate 4 pin connection for the SD card socket.
The board can be powered from 3.3V or 5V; the on-board regulator runs the display at 3.3V. The white LED backlight is supplied separately from the LED pin, so the backlight can be switched on and off on its own. The board measures 34mm x 57.5mm and weighs 15gr; the mounting holes in its four corners let you screw the display to an enclosure or front panel.
The SD card socket on the back of the board has its own pins; it is connected to the same SPI bus as the display and is selected with its own CS pin. Pictures and measurement data stored on the SD card can be shown on the display. Thanks to its small size and low pin count it is used as the display of clocks, thermometers, meters, game consoles and menu driven control panels.
Key features:
Color graphic display: The 128x160 pixel TFT display shows 65K colors (16 bit); text, icons, graphs and small pictures appear sharp.
Few pins to connect: The ST7735 driver is driven over SPI; 5 signal lines are enough for the display: SCK, SDA, A0, RESET and CS.
SD card socket: The SD card socket on the back connects to the same SPI bus through a separate 4 pin connection; pictures and data can be read from the SD card and shown on the display.
3.3V and 5V supply: Thanks to the on-board regulator the VCC pin accepts 3.3V or 5V; the white LED backlight is supplied from the separate LED pin.
Ready to mount board: The 8 pin male header comes soldered; the mounting holes in the four corners make it easy to fix the display to an enclosure or panel.

Usage information:
- Pin connection with Arduino Uno: LED - 3.3V, SCK - Pin 13, SDA - Pin 11, A0 (DC) - Pin 9, RESET - Pin 8, CS - Pin 10, GND - GND, VCC - 5V.
- To use the SD card, connect SD_SCK, SD_MOSI and SD_MISO to the SPI bus of the controller board (13, 11, 12 on the Uno) and SD_CS to a free pin other than the display CS pin.
- If colors or the screen edge look shifted on the red 1.8 inch board, select INITR_BLACKTAB as the display type in the library.

Areas of use:
- Digital clock and calendar displays
- Thermometer and hygrometer displays
- Weather station displays
- Mini oscilloscope and meter displays
- Handheld game console projects
- Menu driven control panels and settings screens
- Robot face and status display
- Digital photo frame showing pictures from an SD card
- Graphic displays for sensor data
- Education and laboratory applications
Precautions:
- The signal pins of the display are 3.3V level. For safe long term use with 5V output boards, a level shifter or 1k/2k resistor voltage dividers on the signal lines are recommended.
- This display has no touch panel; it is not suitable for applications that need a touch screen.
- Do not press on the glass or on the thin flex cable at the edge of the glass, and do not bend the flex cable; the display may break or lose the image.
- When the SD card and the display are connected to the same SPI bus, their two CS pins must be separate and must not be selected at the same time.
