DC 5V FAN 30x30mm
3010 30mm 3D Printer Extruder Hotend Router Modem Case Regulator Peltier
The DC 5V 3x3cm fan is a small brushless cooling fan with a 30x30mm frame and 10mm thickness (3010 size). Since it runs on 5V, it can be powered directly from USB, the 5V output of a Raspberry Pi or a 5V power supply. It is used in small boxes and cases to carry heat away from processors, regulators and driver chips.
It has a brushless motor; thanks to its hydraulic bearing it is quieter and longer lasting than similar sleeve bearing fans. It draws about 150mA; its speed is in the range of about 8000 - 9000rpm. It has two wires, red (+5V) and black (GND), and a 2 pin white socket.
With the 4 mounting holes in its corners it is screwed onto heatsinks, case walls or 3D printer extruder parts. It provides air flow in small spaces such as Raspberry Pi cases, router and modem boxes, 3D printer extruder and mainboard cooling.
Features:
- Product type: DC brushless axial cooling fan
- Operating voltage: DC 5V
- Operating current: about 150mA
- Power: about 0.75W
- Speed: about 8000 - 9000rpm
- Bearing type: hydraulic bearing
- Motor: brushless; no brush wear and no brush sparks
- Noise: about 25dB
- Life: about 30000 hours (at 40°C)
- Connection: 2 wires; red +5V, black GND
- Connector: 2 pin white socket
- Speed signal: as a 2 wire fan it has no speed (tach) output
- Speed control: PWM or on-off through a transistor or MOSFET
- Mounting: 4 screw holes in the corners
- Compatibility: Raspberry Pi, 5V fan outputs of 3D printer boards, USB 5V and 5V power supplies
- Material: plastic frame and plastic blades
- Colour: black; wires red and black
- Dimensions: 30mm x 30mm x 10mm (3x3cm)
- Weight: about 9gr
Usage information:
- Connect the red wire to +5V and the black wire to GND. On the Raspberry Pi the 5V and GND pins are pins 4 and 6; if the socket does not fit these pins directly, use a female jumper wire or a suitable adapter.
- The fan draws air in from one face of the frame and blows it out of the other. Before mounting, run the fan, check the blowing direction with your hand and place it so that it blows onto the hot part or out of the case.
- If you switch it with Arduino or ESP32, do not power the fan directly from a board pin; drive it through a transistor or MOSFET.
Application areas:
- Raspberry Pi processor and case cooling
- 3D printer extruder, hotend and driver board cooling
- Air flow in router, modem and network device boxes
- Ventilation of small electronics cases and project boxes
- Cooling of regulators, power supplies and motor driver chips
- Temperature controlled fan in Arduino and ESP32 projects
- LED and Peltier cooling together with a heatsink
- Solder fume extraction and small hobby setups
- USB powered desktop mini cooling setups
Precautions:
- The fan must only be run from 5V; if 12V or 24V is connected, the motor driver is damaged. The fan outputs of most 3D printer boards are 12V or 24V; connect this fan only to a 5V fan output or a separate 5V supply.
- Do not reverse the wires; red must be +5V and black GND. With reversed wiring the fan does not turn and may be damaged.
- While the fan runs, fingers, cables or other objects must not touch the blades; a blade can break.
- Dust and fluff get into the bearing, slow the fan down and increase the noise; clean the fan from time to time.
