     The 18650 Battery Shield V3 is a charging and power supply board designed for a single 18650 Li-ion cell. The 18650 battery holder comes soldered on top of the board; the cell is charged at 0.5A from 5V through the Micro USB input on the underside. The board LED shows the charge state: red while charging, green when charging is complete.

     The battery voltage is converted on the board to 5V and 3V. 5V is available from the female USB-A socket and from 3 pairs of outputs (5V / GND) on one edge; 3V is available from 3 pairs (3V / GND) on the other edge. The USB-A output is turned on and off with an ON / OFF switch. The cell is protected against overcharge and over-discharge. The 98mm x 29mm board has a mounting hole in each corner; a Micro USB cable is included.

     The + and - direction of the cell is printed large on the board ("Becareful + and -"). If the cell is inserted in reverse, the board is damaged and such a product cannot be returned; always check the direction before inserting the cell. No battery is included.

     Switched USB output: The USB-A output is cut with the ON / OFF switch on the board; the connected device is turned off without unplugging the cable.

     Cell protection and charge indicator: Overcharge and over-discharge protection guards the cell; the red / green LED shows whether charging is in progress or complete.

     Ready board with holder: The 18650 holder is mounted on the board; once the cell is inserted the board is ready to use, no soldering needed.

Usage information:

• Insert the 18650 cell into the holder following the + and - marks on the board. To charge, connect the included Micro USB cable to the input on the underside and to a 5V USB adapter or computer; the red LED shows charging, the green LED shows full.
• Plug the USB-powered device into the USB-A socket and turn the output on with the ON / OFF switch. Power circuits from the 5V / GND and 3V / GND outputs on the edges by soldering pin headers or wires.
• If the cell has not been used for a long time and there is no output, connect the board to Micro USB charging once; the protection circuit resumes when charging input is applied.

Precautions:

•  Pay attention to the + and - terminals when inserting the cell; they are printed large on the PCB. If you insert the cell in reverse, the product is damaged. A damaged product cannot be returned.
•  No battery is included; a single-cell 18650 Li-ion battery must be bought separately.
•  The "5V 4A" print on the back of the board is not a continuous rating; sellers give a continuous rating between 1A and 2A. Do not exceed 1A continuously on the 5V output from a single 18650 cell; at higher current the cell and board heat up and the output may cut off.
•  Do not short-circuit the output pins or connect them with reverse polarity; the board and the connected circuit will be damaged.
