     The L Type Metal Water Level Sensor 75mm is a right angle (L shaped) liquid level sensor with a stainless steel body and a stainless steel float. Its M10 threaded end is passed through a 10mm hole in the side wall of the tank and fixed with a nut; inside the tank the body turns down at a right angle and the float moves on this vertical arm. It has a distance of 75mm downward from the mounting point and a float travel of 38mm. As the liquid level rises and falls, the magnetic float triggers the reed switch inside the body; the sensor gives a dry contact, 2-wire output.

     The product will reach you as NC. However, if you change the direction of the float of the product, you can use it as NO. The switching power is at most 10W, the switching voltage at most 100V DC and the switching current at most 0.5A. These values are not for driving a pump, indicator or alarm directly, but for triggering a low voltage relay coil or a control board input.

     This product is a sensor used to detect the liquid level. You cannot drive a motor pump by passing high current directly through this product. It is essential to add a material such as a relay or contactor in between. If the sensor is short circuited, it means the product has been damaged due to high current. It cannot be repaired. With its light and simple working principle it is highly reliable; it detects whether reservoirs are full or empty in aquarium, hydroponic, salt water and filtration tanks where no hole can be drilled in the top or bottom and only the side wall is accessible.

Key features:

     Side wall mounting: Thanks to the L shaped body the sensor is fitted to the side wall of the tank; there is no need to drill the tank lid or bottom. The float still works on a vertical arm.

     Stainless steel body and float: The body and float are 304 stainless steel; in water, salt water and hot water they are more durable than sensors with plastic floats.

     NO / NC selectable: The product is shipped NC; when the retaining clip at the end of the vertical arm is removed and the float is fitted upside down, it works as NO. The same sensor can be used for both empty and full detection.

     Dry contact output: The reed switch gives a dry contact that needs no voltage; it connects directly to a low voltage (e.g. 12V or 24V DC) relay coil or to the digital input of a control board.

     Resistant to pressure and heat: It withstands 1MPa working pressure and temperatures between -30°C and +120°C; it can also be used in hot water tanks and boilers.

Usage information:

• Drill a 10mm hole in the side wall of the tank; since the float works up to 75mm below the mounting point, choose the height of the hole according to the level you want to detect. Pass the M10 threaded end through the hole from the inside out; place the gasket so that it rests against the tank wall and tighten the nut. The vertical arm must point downward and the float must move freely up and down.
• The contact comes NC. If NO is needed, remove the retaining clip at the end of the vertical arm, turn the float upside down, refit it and put the retainer back in place.
• To drive a pump or valve, connect the sensor to the coil circuit of a low voltage relay; the pump is powered through the relay or contactor contact. When connecting to a control board, connect one wire to GND and the other to a digital input with a pull-up resistor.

Precautions:

•  You cannot drive a motor pump by passing high current directly through this product. It is essential to add a material such as a relay or contactor in between. If the sensor is short circuited, it means the product has been damaged due to high current. It cannot be repaired.
•  Do not exceed the 10W, 100V DC and 0.5A limits; do not switch 230V mains voltage or a 230V contactor coil through the sensor. When driving a load such as a relay coil, connect a reverse diode across the coil; switching sparks wear the reed contact.
•  This sensor is for side wall mounting; it must be fitted with the vertical arm pointing down. If the arm points sideways or up, the float does not work. For mounting through the tank lid or bottom, use a vertical type metal water level sensor.
•  Regularly clean scale, deposits and algae that block the movement of the float; a stuck float reports a wrong level.
