     The Metal Water Level Sensor 200mm is a vertically mounted liquid level sensor with a stainless steel body and a stainless steel float. It is the longest-bodied of the metal vertical level sensors at Robiz: thanks to its 200mm body, the float works farther from the mounting surface than on the 45mm, 65mm, 100mm and 150mm models. The M10 threaded body is passed through a 10mm hole in the tank or reservoir surface and fixed with nuts. As the liquid level rises and falls, the magnetic float moves along the body and triggers the reed switch inside the body; the sensor gives a 2-wire dry contact output.

     Switch NO NC Status: The product will reach you as NC. However, if you change the direction of the product's float, you can use it as NO. Maximum switching power is 10W SPST, maximum switching voltage is 100V DC and maximum switching current is 0.5A. These values are not for driving a pump, indicator or alarm directly, but for triggering a low voltage relay coil or a control board input.

     This product is a sensor used to detect the liquid level. You cannot drive a motor pump by passing high current directly through this product. Adding a component such as a relay or contactor in between is mandatory. If the sensor is short circuited, it means the product has failed because of high current. It cannot be repaired. The stainless water level float uses the buoyancy of the liquid; with its light and simple working principle it is highly reliable. It detects whether reservoirs are full or empty in applications such as aquariums, hydroponic systems, salt water tanks, washing machines and dishwashers, and filtration systems.

Key features:

     200mm extra long body: The float works at the end part of the 200mm body; the switching point is slightly closer than 200mm to the mounting surface. When fitted to the tank top, the level is detected slightly less than 20cm below the top; when fitted to the tank bottom, slightly less than 20cm above the bottom.

     Stainless steel body and float: The body and float are 304 stainless steel; in water, salt water and hot water they are more durable than sensors with plastic floats.

     Selectable NO / NC: The product is shipped NC; when the retainer clip at the end of the body is removed and the float is fitted upside down, it works as NO. The same sensor can be used for both empty and full detection.

     Vertical M10 mounting: The M10 threaded body is passed through a 10mm hole drilled in the tank bottom or top and fixed leak tight with a gasket and nuts.

     Dry contact output: The reed switch gives a dry contact that needs no voltage; it connects directly to a low voltage (e.g. 12V or 24V DC) relay coil or a digital input of a control board.

Usage information:

• Pass the body through the 10mm hole in the tank surface; place the gasket against the tank surface and tighten the nuts. The body must stand vertical and the float must move freely up and down.
• Calculate the detected level from the mounting surface: the float changes position at the end part of the 200mm body; measure the exact switching point with a ruler before mounting. If the tank is lower than 20cm, or the level must be detected closer to the mounting surface, choose a shorter model (45mm, 65mm, 100mm, 150mm).
• The contact comes NC. If NO is needed, remove the retainer clip at the end of the body, turn the float upside down, refit it and put the retainer back.
• To drive a pump or valve, connect the sensor to the coil circuit of a low voltage relay; the pump is supplied through the relay or contactor contact. When connecting to a control board, connect one wire to GND and the other to a digital input with a pull-up resistor.

Things to consider:

•  You cannot drive a motor pump by passing high current directly through this product. Adding a component such as a relay or contactor in between is mandatory. If the sensor is short circuited, it means the product has failed because of high current. It cannot be repaired.
•  Do not exceed the 10W, 100V DC and 0.5A limits; do not switch 230V mains voltage or a 230V contactor coil through the sensor. When driving a load such as a relay coil, connect a reverse diode across the coil; switching sparks wear the reed contact.
•  This sensor is for vertical mounting; if fitted horizontally on a side wall the float does not move. For side wall mounting use a horizontal type level sensor.
•  The 200mm body is loaded sideways more than shorter models by liquid waves and flow inside the tank; mount it where the body will not hit anything and the float will not touch the tank wall, pipes or the tank bottom.
•  Regularly clean limescale, sediment and algae that block the float movement; a stuck float reports a wrong level.
