     The Mini-360 Module is a small adjustable DC-DC step down converter based on the MP2307. It lowers an input voltage between 4.75V and 23V to an output voltage between 1V and 17V selected with the adjustment pot on the board. It delivers 1.8A continuous and 3A for short periods; thanks to its switching design its efficiency reaches up to 95% and it does not heat up as much as linear regulators.

     The board is only about 17mm x 11mm in size and weighs about 1.5gr; it easily fits into narrow boxes and inside RC vehicles and drones. Cables are soldered to the IN+, IN-, OUT+, OUT- points at its four corners, or a pin header is fitted. The output voltage is set with the small adjustment pot; the pot is a delicate part and must be adjusted gently.

     It is used for getting 5V or 3.3V from a 12V battery or adapter, powering sensors and controller boards from a lithium battery pack, and powering receivers, cameras and LEDs in RC vehicles and drones. For a fixed 5V output and higher current, the Mini560 5V module is sold separately.

     High efficiency: Under the best conditions (5V input, 3.3V output, light load) the MP2307 synchronous switching IC reaches up to 95% efficiency; efficiency drops as the output voltage gets lower and the load gets higher.

     Protections: The IC has over current limiting, input under voltage lockout and 160°C thermal shutdown.

Usage information:

• Connect the input supply to the IN+ and IN- points and the load to the OUT+ and OUT- points. Mind the polarity; the module has no reverse polarity protection.
• Before connecting the load, apply voltage to the input, measure the output with a voltmeter and slowly turn the adjustment pot with a small screwdriver to the voltage you want. Then connect the load.
• The output voltage is always lower than the input voltage. Use an input a few volts higher than the desired output.

Precautions:

•  The voltage adjustment pot is sensitive. It breaks if pressure / force is applied; adjust gently with a small screwdriver and do not force the pot.
•  The continuous current is 1.8A. 3A is only a short term peak; a module run above 1.8A for a long time heats up and enters thermal protection.
•  The input voltage must not exceed 23V; a 6S lithium battery pack (up to 25.2V) is too high for this module.
•  Reverse polarity connection damages the IC. Check the wiring before applying power.
•  This module only steps voltage down, it does not raise it. If a fixed 5V and up to 5A is needed, the Mini560 5V module should be preferred.
