RP SMA Male to SMA Female Adapter Socket
Gold Plated Socket 0-6GHz RF Wi-Fi Antenna FPV Lora Helium Router Modem Coaxial GPS GSM GPRS
The RP SMA Male to SMA Female Adapter Socket is a straight RF converter with an RP-SMA male end on one side and a standard SMA female end on the other. The RP-SMA male end has an internally threaded 8mm hex nut and a center contact with a hole; the SMA female end has an externally threaded body and also a center contact with a hole. This lets you connect a standard SMA male antenna or cable to a device with a reverse polarity (RP-SMA) socket. It has 50ohm impedance and works from DC to 6GHz.
Its most common use is with Wi-Fi routers, modems, network cards and access points: the antenna socket on these devices is usually RP-SMA female (external thread, pin in the center). The RP-SMA male end of the adapter screws onto that socket; the SMA female socket on the other end accepts the SMA male antennas and cables common in LoRa, GSM / 4G, GPS and FPV gear. In the same way, an SMA male extension cable can be connected to a device with an RP-SMA female socket.
The body is gold plated brass; the gold plating resists oxidation and keeps contact resistance low. The white PTFE (Teflon) insulator holding the center contacts has low loss at high frequencies. The short body makes the connection without moving the antenna far from the device. This is a straight type: it is not fixed to a panel with a nut, it is used as an inline part between the device socket and the antenna.
Key features:
Converts RP-SMA to SMA: The RP-SMA male end fits the RP-SMA female socket on routers and network cards; the SMA female end accepts standard SMA male antennas and cables. One part removes the mismatch between the two standards.
Hole-type contact on both ends: Being reverse polarity, the RP-SMA male end has a hole in the center and mates with a pin-type RP-SMA female. The SMA female end is a standard female with a center hole and mates with a pin-type SMA male.
50ohm, DC - 6GHz: Compatible with 50ohm RF lines; covers the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, LoRa, GPS and GSM / 4G bands.
Gold plated brass: Body and contacts are gold plated; they resist oxidation and contact quality is kept through repeated mating.
8mm hex nut: The nut on the RP-SMA male end turns by hand and is finished with an 8mm wrench; at about 3gr it puts no load on the sockets.
Features:
- Product type: RP-SMA male - SMA female straight RF coaxial adapter (converter)

Usage information:
- Check the antenna socket on the device: if it is externally threaded with a pin in the center, it is RP-SMA female and the RP-SMA male end of this adapter goes there. Turn the nut by hand, keeping it straight; finish with a light turn of an 8mm wrench.
- Screw the SMA male antenna or cable onto the SMA female end of the adapter and tighten it by its own nut. The antenna or cable end must have a pin in the center; an antenna with a center hole (RP-SMA male) makes no contact with this end.
- When tightening, turn the nut, not the adapter body; holding the body still prevents the center contacts from rubbing and wearing.
Applications:
- Fitting an SMA male antenna to the RP-SMA antenna socket of a Wi-Fi router or modem
- Using SMA antennas or cables on Wi-Fi network cards (PCI-e, USB) and access points
- RP-SMA / SMA matching on LoRa and Helium gateway antenna lines
- External antenna connection for GSM / 4G modems and routers
- Fixing RP-SMA / SMA mismatch on FPV video transmitters and receivers
- GPS receiver antenna connection
- SDR receiver and radio antenna connection
- Antenna replacement on IP cameras and wireless bridge devices
- Antenna connection on telemetry and remote control transmitters
Precautions:
- Choose the right direction: the RP-SMA end of this adapter is MALE and only fits an RP-SMA female (pin-type) socket. If your device socket is SMA female (center hole) or your antenna is RP-SMA male (center hole), this part does not fit; another adapter type is needed.
- SMA and RP-SMA have the same thread, so a wrong pairing still screws on but passes no signal (two holes or two pins). Look at the contacts on both ends before mating.
- Every inline connection adds a small loss. On sensitive receivers (GPS, long range LoRa) avoid unnecessary adapter chains.
- The adapter is not designed to carry the load of a heavy antenna or cable; do not leave a large antenna hanging on the adapter, secure the cable. Outdoors, wrap the connection with waterproof tape.
