     The SMA Female to SMA Female Adapter Socket is a straight RF inline connector with an SMA female end (outer-threaded body, hollow centre contact) on both sides. It joins two cables with SMA male ends, or an SMA male antenna to an SMA male ended cable, end to end; two short cables become one longer line, or two male parts are joined without any other converter. It has 50ohm impedance and works from DC to 6GHz.

     The body and centre contact are gold plated brass; the gold plating prevents oxidation and keeps contact resistance low. The white PTFE (Teflon) insulator around the centre contact gives low loss at high frequency. The small body, 15.0mm long with a 6.22mm thread diameter, takes little space behind a device or inside a small enclosure.

     It is used for cable extension and antenna connection on Wi-Fi, LoRa, GPS, GSM / 4G modems, FPV video transmitters, SDR receivers and telemetry modules. This is a straight type; it is not for panel (nut) mounting but an inline part between a cable and a device.

     Two female ends: Both ends are standard SMA female (outer thread, hollow centre). An SMA male connector with a centre pin and inner-threaded nut mates to each end; it joins two SMA male ends together.

     Gold plated brass: Body and centre contact are gold plated; they do not oxidise and contact quality is kept over repeated mating.

     50ohm, DC - 6GHz: Compatible with 50ohm RF lines; covers 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, LoRa, GPS and GSM / 4G bands.

     Short and small body: With 15.0mm length and 6.22mm thread diameter it adds very little to the line; at about 1.5gr it puts no load on the antenna or cable.

     PTFE insulator: The white PTFE (Teflon) insulator holding the centre contact is low loss at high frequency and withstands a wide temperature range.

Usage information:

• Screw the nuts of the two SMA male connectors onto the two ends of the adapter by hand, keeping them straight, all the way. For the final tightening use an 8mm wrench lightly; overtightening damages the centre contact and the thread.
• Before mating, check whether the other end is SMA or RP-SMA: an SMA male has a pin in the centre. A male connector with a hollow centre (RP-SMA) makes no contact with this adapter; use an RP-SMA converter in that case.
• Tighten by turning the nut, not the adapter; hold the adapter body still so the centre contact does not rub.

Points to note:

•  This adapter is for SMA male connectors. An RP-SMA male connector has a hollow centre; two hollow contacts do not touch and no signal passes.
•  Every inline connection adds a small loss to the line. Do not build unnecessary adapter chains on sensitive receivers (GPS, long range LoRa).
•  The adapter is not designed to carry the weight of an antenna or cable; do not leave a heavy antenna hanging on the adapter, secure the cable.
•  Keep metal particles, dust and moisture out of the centre contact; outdoors, wrap the joint with waterproof tape.
