     The Sma Male to Sma Female 90 Degree Adapter is an L type RF intermediate connection part with an SMA male (inner threaded nut, centre pin) connector on one end and an SMA female (outer threaded body, pin socket) connector on the other end, turning 90 degrees between the two ends. It has 50ohm impedance and is used in the DC-6GHz range. The body is gold plated brass; the gold plating reduces oxidation and keeps the contact surface clean.

     The adapter does not change the signal type; the SMA male end is screwed onto the SMA female socket of the device or cable, and an antenna or cable with an SMA male end is attached to the SMA female end. This way the antenna or cable leaves the device surface at a right angle; in narrow enclosures, routers and modems placed close to a wall, FPV vehicles and behind panels it reduces sharp cable bending and the strain on the connector.

     This product is for standard SMA. Its pin structure is different from Wi-Fi antennas and cables with RP-SMA (reverse polarity) ends; an RP-SMA adapter is needed for RP-SMA connections. Unlike straight (180 degree) SMA female - female or male - male adapters, it turns the direction of the connection by 90 degrees instead of extending it.

     SMA male - SMA female: One end is male, the other end is female; the adapter is inserted into an existing connection and does not change gender or polarity.

Usage information:

• Screw the SMA male end of the adapter by hand onto the SMA female socket of the device or cable; attach the antenna or cable with an SMA male end to the SMA female end. Tightening the nut by hand is enough, do not over-tighten with pliers.
• Before connecting, check that both ends are standard SMA: the SMA female socket has a pin socket in the centre and the SMA male end has a pin in the centre. On an RP-SMA end this structure is reversed.
• To set the antenna direction, turn the angled end to the desired direction while attaching the adapter and tighten the nut in that position.

Precautions:

•  This adapter is for standard SMA; it does not make proper contact with RP-SMA (reverse polarity) male or female ends. Most router antennas are RP-SMA; check the pin structure before connecting.
•  Do not over-tighten the nut and do not use the antenna attached to the adapter as a lever; the centre pin of the connector and the device socket may be damaged.
•  Every extra adapter adds a small loss to the RF line; do not use several adapters in a row where not needed.
•  The operating frequency is limited to DC-6GHz; for higher frequency measurement setups use an adapter rated above this value.
