RS550 DC Motor 21V 14 Teeth 28000Rpm
High Speed Torque Drill Lathe CNC Router Motor Circular Saw Low Noise Model Boat Car Olive Harvest Simulator Steering Wheel Textile
The RS550 DC Motor 14 Teeth 21V is a 550 size brushed (carbon brush) DC motor used in cordless power tools. A 14 tooth metal pinion gear with an 8.2mm outer diameter is press fitted on the shaft, so the motor fits directly into the gearbox of the tool. At 21V it runs up to 28000Rpm with no load, draws approximately 1A with no load and delivers approximately 90W - 100W.
The body is 37.2mm in diameter and 57mm long; the total length including the gear is 75.1mm and the weight is 207gr. The front cover has 2 M3x0.5 threaded mounting holes with 25mm spacing and ventilation holes, and the rear cover has 2 terminals; the positive (+) terminal is marked red. It is used to replace the motor of 21V (5 cell Li-ion) cordless drills, cordless screwdrivers and cordless saws, and in hobby drives that need high speed.
Before buying, compare the tooth count and diameter of the pinion in your tool: RS550 motors are sold with different pinions such as 9, 12 and 14 teeth. This product has a 14 tooth, 8.2mm diameter pinion.
Key features:
14 tooth pinion fitted: A 14 tooth, 8.2mm outer diameter pinion gear is press fitted on the shaft; it fits directly into the gearbox, no separate gear is needed.
High speed: Runs up to 28000Rpm with no load at 21V; suitable for fast running tools such as cordless saws, sanders and jigsaws.
Fits cordless tools: The 550 size 37.2mm diameter body, 2 M3 mounting holes with 25mm spacing and 75.1mm total length fit the motor seat of cordless drills and saws.
Air cooled body: Ventilation holes on the front and rear covers let air pass through the motor and reduce heating in continuous use.
Easy to drive: As a brushed DC motor it turns when DC voltage is applied to the two terminals; reversing the polarity reverses the direction, and speed is set with PWM.
Features:
- Product type: brushed (carbon brush) DC motor with 14 tooth pinion
- Model: RS550

- Connection: 2 terminals on the rear cover, positive (+) terminal marked red
- Cooling: ventilation holes on the front and rear covers
- Gear length: approximately 7mm
- Shaft diameter: approximately 3.17mm (1/8 inch)
- Material: metal motor housing, metal pinion gear
- Dimensions: body 37.2mm diameter x 57mm length; total length including gear 75.1mm
- Weight: 207gr
Usage information:
- When replacing a motor, first compare the pinion tooth count (14), gear diameter (8.2mm) and mounting hole spacing (25mm) of the old motor; screw the motor to the gearbox of the tool through the 2 M3 holes on the front cover.
- The positive (+) terminal is the one marked red. If the terminals are reversed, the motor turns in the opposite direction. For speed control use a high current PWM motor driver or speed controller that can supply the load current of the motor.
- Choose mounting screws of suitable length for the holes on the front cover; a screw that is too long may touch the parts inside the motor.
Applications:
- Motor replacement for 21V cordless drills and cordless screwdrivers
- Cordless chain pruning saw and reciprocating saw motor
- Jigsaws and hobby saws
- Sanders and hobby grinding tools
- Hobby CNC and mini lathe drive
- Model boat and model car drive
- Cordless olive harvesters (shakers)
- Simulator steering wheel mechanisms
- Geared robot and vehicle drives
Precautions:
- Under load the motor draws approximately 7A, and much higher current at start-up and stall. Choose the power supply, cables and driver for this current.
- Do not run the motor stalled (unable to turn) for a long time; the winding and brushes heat up and get damaged.
- Do not cover the ventilation holes; the motor heats up in continuous use.
- Do not run the motor above 21V.
- It is a brushed motor: the brushes wear over time and sparks occur during operation; do not use it where flammable gas or dust is present.
- RS550 motors are sold with pinions of different tooth counts; if the gearbox of your tool does not suit a 14 tooth, 8.2mm pinion, the motor will not fit.
