It has two leds on it, one emitting infrared light and one able to collect this light back. The beam coming out of the infrared led hits the surface and reaches the receiver led. The led measures the intensity of this light. Whether the surface is black or white changes the intensity of the reflected light. This provides the black white color distinction we need. The sensor works as analog. We will use the analog read function from the adc pin on the mcu.
The CNY70 is a reflective sensor that includes an infrared emitter and phototransistor. Daylight blocking filter coating is applied to suppress interference.
