TCRT5000 is made of 2 pieces of infrared leds. 1 Piece of infrared light emitting led and 1 infrared light detecting led are together. The transmitter led sends infrared light. The light hitting a surface returns and the detector led reads the light. The sensor is used to detect the surface distance and the surface color. It is used for object and obstacle detection at short distance. It can be easily used in line following robots, mini sumo, sumo and many various robots.
Digital and analog output can be obtained. If you use the digital output, it is possible to adjust the distance with the potentiometer on it. This sensor board, which gives digital output, can detect a bright white surface between 0-30 cm and a matte black surface between 0-10 cm.
