     The 120dB Active Buzzer is a loud alarm siren that runs on DC 12V and has a built-in driver circuit. When 12V is applied to its red and black wires it produces a fast intermittent alarm sound by itself; no separate signal or tone generating circuit is needed. It works in the 9V - 15V range, the sound level rises as the operating voltage rises, and it gives a very loud sound between 105dB and 120dB.

     Its black plastic case measures 47mm x 39mm x 23mm and weighs 28gr. The sound comes out of the round grille on the front, and the buzzer is fixed with screws through the mounting holes at two corners of the case. The approximately 12cm long red (+) and black (-) wires have bare ends; they connect directly to a 12V adapter, a battery, a relay contact or a transistor / mosfet output. It is suitable for warnings that must be heard from a distance, such as burglar alarms, car alarms, flood alarms and machine fault warnings.

Usage information:

• Connect the red wire to the plus (+) terminal of the 12V supply and the black wire to the minus (-) terminal; the buzzer gives an intermittent alarm sound as long as voltage is applied and stops when the voltage is removed.
• Do not connect the buzzer directly to a pin of a controller board to switch it; drive it with 12V through a transistor, mosfet or relay that can carry the 120mA current. If you use a separate supply, connect the GND lines together.
• Fix the buzzer with screws through its two mounting holes so that the sound grille stays open.

Precautions:

•  The buzzer is polarised; connect the red wire to plus and the black wire to minus. With reverse connection it does not sound and the internal circuit may be damaged.
•  The operating voltage range is 9V - 15V; do not apply more than 15V.
•  The sound is very loud; do not hold the buzzer close to your ear while it is working and keep tests short.
•  This product is an active buzzer and gives a single intermittent alarm sound; a passive buzzer is needed to play melodies or different tones.
•  No waterproof rating is specified for the case; outdoors, mount it where it is not exposed to rain.
