     The SOT23-5 PCB is a blank adapter board used to convert small 5-lead SOT23-5 SMD ICs and 3-lead SOT23-3 parts into DIP form. The top side has one SOT23-5 pad and one SOT23-3 pad side by side, so the same board can be used for 5-lead regulator, opamp and logic gate ICs as well as for 3-lead transistors, mosfets and regulators. There are 4 holes with 2.54mm (100mil) pitch on each side of the board; the two rows are 300mil apart, so the board follows the standard DIP8 IC layout.

     The board is made of first class, double sided FR4 material. One SOT23-5 and one SOT23-3 part can also be soldered on the bottom side; the bottom pads are connected to the same pins as the top ones. Pads and holes are tin plated; the dot next to the SOT23-5 pad shows the pin 1 direction, and the prints "23-5" and "23-3" on the board show which package each pad belongs to. After the part is soldered, the board can be plugged into a breadboard, a perfboard or a DIP8 IC socket.

Usage information:

• Choose the pad that matches the package of your part ("23-5" or "23-3" print). Place the SOT23-5 IC so that its pin 1 is at the dot mark on the board, solder one lead first and check the alignment, then solder the other leads.
• For a breadboard or DIP8 socket, solder a 2.54mm male pin header into the 4 holes on each side; check on the board traces which DIP pin goes to which lead and note it down.

Precautions:

•  Pads of the same package on the top and bottom sides are connected to the same pins; if parts of the same package are soldered on both sides, they are connected in parallel.
•  The lead functions (pinout) of SOT23-5 and SOT23-3 ICs differ from IC to IC; build your circuit by checking which lead each DIP pin goes to against the datasheet of the IC.
•  Before fitting parts on the SOT23-5 and SOT23-3 pads at the same time, check on the board traces whether the two pads share DIP pins.
•  Do not heat the small pads for a long time; use a fine tip soldering iron and flux, excessive heat can lift the pad.
