12V 620Rpm JGA25-370 Gearmotor DC Motor
Metal Gear High Torque Force 25mm Robot Toy RC Car Medical Automation
The JGA25-370 is a small gear motor made of a 25mm diameter metal gearbox fitted to a 370 type brushed DC motor. This version turns at about 620 revolutions per minute (620Rpm) without load at 12V; the motor label reads "JGA25-370 DC12V620RPM". Because the gear ratio is low, it is faster and has lower torque than the low speed versions of the same family. Rotation slows down as the load increases.
Thanks to its short (17mm) gearbox the total length is about 60mm: 30mm motor, 17mm gearbox and 12.5mm shaft. The output shaft is a 4mm D-cut shaft (flat 3.5mm, D length 8mm), supported by a brass bushing. It is screwed to a bracket or body through the 2 M3 holes (17mm spacing) on the gearbox front face; there are 2 solder tabs at the back of the motor. It turns in both directions by reversing the polarity.
It is suitable where fast rotation is needed and the load is light: fast mini robot car wheels, line follower robots, stirrers and mixers, fast conveyors, reel and cable winders, turntables and showcase mechanisms. For jobs needing high torque and slow motion (curtain, lock, pump) the low speed versions of the same family should be chosen.
Key features:
High speed: Turns at about 620Rpm without load at 12V; suitable for fast wheels and rotating mechanisms, speed drops under load.
Short and light body: With the 17mm gearbox the total length is about 60mm and the weight about 85gr; the 25mm diameter body fits narrow places.
Metal gearbox: The gears and housing of the 25mm gearbox are metal; the output shaft runs in a brass bushing.
4mm D shaft: The D-cut 4mm shaft (flat 3.5mm) lets wheels, pulleys and couplings be fixed with a set screw without slipping.
Standard mounting: The 2 M3 holes (17mm spacing) on the front face fit 25mm gear motor brackets; wires are soldered to the 2 solder tabs at the back.
Features:
- Product type: Metal gear brushed DC gear motor
- Model: JGA25-370
- Rated voltage: 12V (according to the robiz listing it works between 6V - 18V)
- Speed: 620Rpm (12V, no load, label value; rotation slows as load increases)
- Working torque: about 0.2kg.cm - 0.3kg.cm (12V, at rated load)
- Stall torque: about 1.2kg.cm - 2.2kg.cm (12V, according to seller tables; continuous working torque should be kept well below this)
- No-load current: about 50mA - 150mA (12V, varies by seller)
- Load current: about 300mA - 400mA (12V, at rated load)
- Stall current: about 1.5A (12V)
- Direction: Bidirectional (right / left)
- Motor type: 370 type brushed DC motor
- Gearbox: 25mm diameter, metal gears, 17mm length
- Output shaft: 4mm D-cut (flat 3.5mm, D length 8mm), 12.5mm length
- Shaft bushing: Brass, 7mm diameter, 2.5mm height
- Mounting: 2 pcs M3 screw holes on the gearbox front face, 17mm spacing
- Connection: 2 pcs solder tabs at the back of the motor
- Body material: Metal
- Color: Silver
- Dimensions: 25mm diameter, about 60mm total length (30mm motor + 17mm gearbox + 12.5mm shaft)
- Weight: about 85gr
Usage information:
- Solder wires to the two solder tabs of the motor and connect them to the output of a DC motor driver. To change direction reverse the polarity or use an H-bridge driver; adjust the speed with PWM.
- Screw the motor to a 25mm motor bracket or body through the 2 M3 holes on the gearbox front face. Use short screws; a long screw entering too far into the gearbox touches the gears.
- Fix the wheel, pulley or coupling to the 4mm D shaft with a set screw aligned with the flat face.
Application areas:
- Fast mini robot car wheels
- Line follower and racing robots
- Stirrer and mixer mechanisms
- Fast conveyors and belt carriers
- Reel, rope and cable winder mechanisms
- Turntables and showcase display mechanisms
- Drives where speed is reduced again with pulley and belt
- Moving models and advertising displays
- Light load fan and propeller rotation experiments
Points to consider:
- This is the high speed, low torque version. For heavy lifting or high torque jobs such as doors, curtains or locks, choose the low speed JGA25-370 versions.
- A motor forced until the shaft stalls draws high current and heats up; choose the driver and supply according to the stall current and prevent the mechanism from jamming.
- The gearbox uses spur gears and is not self-locking: when power is cut, the load can turn the shaft back.
- According to the robiz listing do not run it above 18V; high voltage shortens motor and gearbox life.
- The motor cannot be driven directly from a control board pin; use a motor driver board or a transistor driver.
