     The P75-E2 is a short spring loaded test probe (pogo pin) with a total length of 16.5mm, a 1.02mm barrel diameter and a 1.3mm pointed conical tip. The package contains 100 probes. The probe consists of 2 movable spring loaded parts: the thin plunger with the pointed tip moves back and forth inside the outer cylindrical barrel, which contains the spring, and the tip contacts the target surface with spring pressure. The plunger travels about 2.5mm, presses on the pad with about 100gr spring force and carries up to 3A.

     Unlike pin headers, the P75-E2 probes are spring loaded; they make contact without soldering, only by pressing on the board, and improve contact reliability. They are used in solderless programming, firmware upload and test jigs; this probe is also used in the Robiz 5 Pin Programming Jig. Probes that wear out over time are easily replaced with this pack.

     With its 16.5mm length it is about half as long as the long P100 series probes (33.35mm); it fits thin and low jigs, hand probes and clamp type programming clips. The probe can be inserted into an R75 series receptacle or soldered by its barrel directly to the jig PCB.

Usage information:

• Insert the probe into an R75 series receptacle, or place it into a hole of suitable diameter on the jig PCB and solder it by the barrel. Keep the soldering heat short and do not let solder flow into the front opening where the plunger enters; the spring and plunger may jam.
• Set the jig so that, when the probes press on the pads, the plunger does not bottom out at the end of its about 2.5mm stroke; part of the spring travel should remain free. This keeps the contact pressure and does not strain the probe.
• Measure the centers of the pads and place the probes at the same pitch; on a programming jig, compare the order of the VCC, GND and signal lines with the pads on the board.

Precautions:

•  The P75-E2 is the short series (16.5mm, 1.3mm tip). Do not confuse it with the long P100-E2 probe (33.35mm, 1.5mm tip); they cannot replace each other.
•  The pointed tip may leave a mark on the pad and can bend under side load; press the probe straight onto the pad and do not slide the board under the probe.
•  The conical tip is meant for pads and test points; for component leads and connector pins a concave tip probe is more suitable.
•  Do not exceed the 3A limit; the probe is only a contact element, a short circuit or high current surge damages the spring and plating.
