     XKC-Y26-V is a capacitive water level sensor that works without touching the liquid; it is fixed to the outer surface of a non-metallic container. It detects the liquid behind the wall of a plastic, glass or ceramic container when the liquid reaches the sensor level; the status LED lights up and the output level on the yellow OUT wire changes. It is powered with 5V - 24V DC, draws about 5mA and responds to a level change within 500ms; the detection error is about ±1.5mm.

     Since the sensor does not enter the liquid, the sticking, scaling, wear and corrosion problems of float and electrode sensors do not occur; there is no need to drill the container or seal a fitting. The output is not a dry contact but a voltage (high / low level) output; the black M (mode) wire selects whether the output is high or low when liquid is present. The adjustment potentiometer on the body sets the sensitivity according to the container wall.

     It is used for empty / full detection in containers such as boilers, reservoirs, aquariums, hydroponic tanks, water dispensers and coffee machine tanks; the output is connected to a relay board, a controller input or a buzzer to run a pump, alarm or indicator.

     Warning: This product is a sensor used to detect the liquid level. You cannot drive a motor pump by drawing high current directly through this product. It is mandatory to add a relay or contactor type component in between. If the sensor is short circuited, it means the product has been damaged due to high current. It cannot be repaired.

Key features:

     No contact with liquid: The sensor is mounted outside the container; since it does not touch the liquid, scale, deposits, wear and corrosion do not affect detection and the liquid is not contaminated by the sensor.

     No drilling: It is fixed to the flat or curved outer surface of non-metallic containers such as plastic, glass and ceramic; no hole, threaded fitting or gasket is needed.

     Selectable output logic: With the black M wire left floating the output is high when liquid is present; connecting the M wire to GND inverts the output, so it is low when liquid is present.

     Wide supply range: It works in the 5V - 24V DC range written on its label; it can be used with 5V controllers as well as in 12V / 24V systems.

     Sensitivity adjustment and status LED: The potentiometer adjusts sensitivity to the container wall; the red LED on top lights when liquid is detected, so no meter is needed during installation.

Usage information:

• Connect the brown wire to the positive of the 5V - 24V DC supply and the blue wire to GND. Connect the yellow OUT wire to the controller input, the trigger input of a relay board or a buzzer; if you use a separate supply, join the GNDs.
• With the black M wire left floating, the output goes high when liquid is detected; when the M wire is connected to GND the output is inverted (low with liquid, high without liquid). Connect it as needed; insulate the end of an unused M wire.
• Fix the sensor firmly on the flat or curved outer surface of the container at the level to be detected; leave no air gap between the sensor and the container. Turn the potentiometer with a small screwdriver so that the LED is off with the container empty and on when the liquid reaches the sensor.
• If a pump, solenoid valve or high current load is to be driven, always put a relay or contactor in between. The sensor does not work as a dry contact and does not switch the load directly.

Things to consider:

•  Draw at most 100mA from the output. Do not connect a motor, pump or valve directly to the sensor output; high current damages the sensor permanently and it cannot be repaired.
•  The sensor does not work on metal containers and metal pipes; use it only on non-metallic containers such as plastic, glass and ceramic.
•  A thick container wall, an air gap between the sensor and the container and water drops on the outer surface affect detection. Fix the sensor firmly on a dry surface and adjust it with the potentiometer by testing on your own container.
•  The supply must be in the 5V - 24V DC range. Do not reverse the brown and blue wires; voltage above 24V damages the sensor.
